I applied at this place (Elderly Care) and I was being considered for the job. My sister is friends with the person who gave me the interview. My sister told me that today my Interviewer looked on my Facebook and saw stuff on Marijuana. My privacy settings are set so that only friends can see really anything on my profile. The only thing my Interviewer could have seen is what I am a fan of: "NORML" and "1,000,000 Strong for Steven Colbert to 'Go Green' On 4/20!"

My sister told me my interviewer is having a tough time deciding now, because since I support illegal drugs, I can't give old people medication.

    Is this right?

Edit: I got the job! Happy happy happy. No drug testing, either! I've got it made!

  2. ya i mean even if it were legal alot of employers would look down upon smoking. its up to the employer and if its a private business then they can choose who they think will rep their corporation best

  3. unfortunate but this happens a lot. make sure you go look at all your FB privacy settings now, i had to change all mine around. made it so you have to be a friend to see anything (there is a setting for "friends of friends" too which is prolly what happened to you), and you cant find me by searching my name

  4. I have all my settings set to "Friends". I checked, and the only thing she would have seen are the things I am a fan of, which I mentioned in my above post.

  5. nothin else you can do bud.

if they want to be ignorant assholes and not hire you over it, they are well within their rights.. and no i dont think that it is RIGHT but it is lawful if that is what you are asking

  6. Damn.

  7. Welcome to the adult world! They look at that type of stuff. They want to know what type of person they're going to hire. Usually people are willing to post everything they do on the internet for everyone to see. Kids have gotten thrown off of football teams and what not because they posted about how fucked up they got or how much weed they smoked. Even if you think noone can see your shit always assume it.

Anything that can get you into trouble or has anything to do with drugs I would suggest you take them off. No one needs to know that shit anyways.

  8. just remember there is no privacy on the internets

  9. pretty sad world we live in where we have to hide our true personalities to get a mediocre job.

  10. So true.

  11. hmm...you got the job though and thats all that matters. congratulations. but for future reference, i would be cautious about who your letting view your profile...even if you don't know who it could be. There are lurkers every which way you look these days man.

  12. Totally. I set my Privacy settings to the point where no one who isn't my friend can even search for me. I can find other people, but they can't find me.

  13. Mission complete. Congratulations on the job. Hope it works out for you and the elderly.

  14. Thats not uncommon. A lady at my school told me some colleges do it too when you apply and they're on the fence about you.

I dont have a facebook, so I dont have that problem

  15. Good thing I don't have a Face Book. The only things I have is a MyYearbook and a Grass City account:cool:.

Although I am having trouble finding a job:(.

  16. Glad to hear you got the job:)
