Kind K5 XL1000 Remote Control Battery

  1. FYI

I purchased a Kind K5 XL1000 LED grow light a while back but I have not yet used it while my grow room is under construction. Yesterday I fired it up and I decided to test the remote control as well. The light turned on as expected. However, the remote control did not work at all.

According to some quick online research the remote should arrive paired with the light. The remote does have an ID button that is used for the pairing process yet that button had no effect either.

I happened to notice that the remote rattled when shaken. I removed the CR2025 coin cell battery that came with remote and replaced it with a CR2032 battery which I happened to have on hand. The batteries are the same voltage and are identical in size except the CR2032 is thicker. Once the CR2032 was installed the remote no longer rattled. The remote also worked perfectly with the new battery. It's obvious to me that the CR2025 battery was too thin to make contact in the remote.

I hope this will anyone else that may encounter the same problem.

  2. I just chatted with Kind on their web site and they said that the CR2025 is the correct battery. However, that battery was not thick enough to make contact inside my remote. Since the CR2032 is the same voltage there shouldn't be any issues with using it instead.
