Kief

Discussion in 'Weed Edibles' started by Lodi Dodi, Jun 4, 2013.

  1. So I just got a new grinder, and it collects a lotta kief.  I blow through about a half ounce of weed every 2 weeks, kill of course.

I was wondering if any of you have experience cooking with kief, and how much weight one should save up to make a batch of edibles.  I don't typically make edibles because I don't usually have the extra bud, but the kief saved up could essentially be that "extra" bud.

I was thinking like 4-5 grams of kief for a box of brownies.  Idk how much oil/butter is typically used for a batch, but thats what I was thinking.

  2. IMO its better to cook with bud and save your kief. Press it to make a nice brick of hash.

What I do is but a half oz - oz, grind it all up and make brownies then use that kief I just got from it and press it to make a brick. Best of both worlds. :smoking:

You didn't search or check the stickied/pinned threads, did you... :p

The first page of the CannaPharm sticky is basically devoted to cooking with dry-sift/hash. :)

If you make your oil well, you'll need to eat a little less than you'd usually smoke, for a stronger and longer-lasting experience. So dosing is up to you. :) You'll be using less oil than you would in a normal brownie recipe, but the good thing with concentrated hash oil, is that you can make up for the rest of the oil that the recipe calls for, by using the specific oil source recommended for the recipe. So if you make your canna oil with the best oil source (coconut oil!), and you have a Tbsp or even just a tsp of hash oil, you can go on for instance to make your Grandma's, old fashioned, home-made brownies, and still follow her old recipe that calls for butter. If it's a half cup of butter the recipe calls for, just subtract the amount of oil you've made from the amount of butter the recipe suggests.  :)

  4. I was curious about this also, i wasnt sure if adding kief to simmering butter would work in the same way that bud will?

  5. BAD KITTY!  You are partially the reason I made this thread, when I had the idea I was using Google to look for information, and I saw multiple forums by you explaining your methods.  I was high the other day though when I posted this and just forgot to check the stickies :D

Just wanted to say, you are the man.  Positive vibes to you.

  7. @badkittysmiles..    "but the good thing with concentrated hash oil, is that you can make up for the rest of the oil that the recipe calls for, by using the specific oil source recommended for the recipe."-

Does this mean you can take a teaspoon of canna-oil and mix it with more coconut oil so it will work for a recipe?
