Kief Box!!

    I was wondering if any of you know the best way to maximize the kief you get out of a kief box ("pollen box" "wikka box" etc.).

    I got a pretty nice new kief catcher today made of bamboo with a silk screen. I really want to maximize the kief I get out of it. I tried it out today and just threw some buds in it and shook it up and barely got anything. I don't really want to put a quarter or any other large coins just b/c the silk screen seems kinda delicate to me (wouldn't wanna break it). Anybody know of anything I can put in there or do to make it so I get more kief outta the box?

    I think time is key in this case. I've never used a keif box nor grinder (Only smoking for a year), but yeah, I think the best thing to do is be patient, and wait for it to collect. I doubt you'll get much keif the first time you use it, but it will gradually build.

    Did you break up/grind the buds before putting em in it? That'd definitely increase the kief you get from it. Otherwise i'd say move the herb around and tap the screen lightly to get the most out of it, or knock it onto a hard surface. Your bud might not be super kiefy, i tend to get more kief out of denser buds than more leafy ones.

    Human Twig, the point of a kief box is that you don't have to wait a long time to collect kief. I have a grinder, which does take a long time to collect kief, but I'll be putting close to an ounce in this box to shake it up, so the kief should be immediate. But thanks for the friendly advice anyways.

    Mtn dairy milk - I thought breaking it up might be a good idea but I didn't do that! I'll do it next time for sure.

    Freeze your buds for like 20-30 minutes. Then put it in the box and shake

    It may sound like a bad thing to do, but you'll probably get a lot more kief if your bud is dried out a bit. It makes the bud a lot more brittle and more will flake off. It'll produce more kief, but will probably be of lesser quality since there will be more plant material that's likely to fall through than just actual kief.

    I say just let the process of collecting kief happen naturally. Just be happy knowing that whatever falls in the kief catch would probably have ended up on the ground, your hands or stuck to the inside of a baggie.
