Kickass find

  1. Hey everyone. So I'm driving home from school today and I see my neighbor's house sold. He was throwing away a bunch of stuff and I spotted an old Panasonic turntable with AM/FM radio. I quickly snatched it up and brought it home. I tested it out and lo and behold, it actually worked. So I ran downstairs and nabbed some of my parent's old vinyls, like Pink Floyd and Bob Marley. I've been listening to old records ever since I got home from school and it kicks ass! Gotta love trash day....

  2. That's cool!! I still think nothing beats the way that vinyls sounds. Not even CD quality is that good, that is with the right setup. :)

  3. nice on your find there. just a couple of months ago we had a cleanup at the office / warehouse at work. they were about to throw out a fully functioning microwave... i took it with me home, and after beeing micro-less for almost half a year, i swear, i ate almost only micro-food for a week. it's just so, erm, practical :)

oh, and i've done the cd vs vinyl test at a local hifi shop, and i could'nt really hear any difference*. mind you this was high end turntable and cd player, so none of the familiar hiss and crackling often assosiated with vinyl and the cd sound was "warm" too.

the only bright spot when it comes to vinyl in my opinion is that it's easier to manipulate in a live setting. for all other purposes cd is the way to go.

    * maybe my hearing is a bit impaired after way to many live-gigs w/soundcheck, with way to loud sound. drums sound check is the absolute worst. and half the time i forget my earplugs back home.

  4. i have two technic 1200's from 1989... or 86 idk i bought them used an they still work like brand new....... an nothin stoppin tha direct drive system......i use them everyday to... just spinnin or messin around... scrratchin

  5. I was gonna try that sometime this weekend. How much do you usually pay for records at thrift stores? And I would have to agree about the cover art. Some of these records have kickass cover art that I could definitely get lost in while blazed....
