I am attempting to grow some mj in my cold basement in a large box. What would be the best type of heat lamp/whatever to keep the tropical temperature? Thanks.
HIGH All, three major types of high intensity discharge (HID) bulbs. They are the mercury vapor, the high pressure sodium, and the metal halide. The mercury vapor...a big no. The HPS or MH light bulb will bring the temperature up..if that's still not enough put the Ballest in with everything...things will warm up soon.
As an indication.. I turned on my 400w HPS in my living room (about 15' by 15' at a guess) to test it and within an hour, it went from a comfortable temperature to being noticeably 'warm'. Almost unpleasently so. That said, that was my first experience with an HPS and only about 2 days ago. I might not be a representative sample..
