had this old closet full of christmas decorations, so i gutted it and installed this... Lights of America 100W Fluorex Floodlight (Silver) (92102) 100w cfl 6500 bit of an improvement over my 15w flouro i had diagonally mounted on top of the box lid... i had to keep plants within an inch of it or they stretched... it was pretty puny... i've used it for about 6 years to get seedlings started and normally just turned the fan on high and put it about 5 feet away with the lid propped open a bit... for right now i just threw the oscillating fan outside the door to keep air circulating, as i'm not too concerned with stealth... i'll be getting rid of the grow box altogether soon, just wanted to use the new light for now so i threw it underneath it... few questions... i've always been a "get the seedling stem nice and throw it outside" kind of guy... it's flat white paint in the closet... would mylar improve the reflectivity significantly enough to matter? does the big fan work well enough with the closet door kept open? or do i need intake outtake fans with negative pressure and the door kept shut? i basically wanted a big enough light to maintain a mama, but would i need supplemental CFL's to flower if i wanted to do a plant during winter? and as far as CFL's go, how do ya'll like my light selection? it was about $60 for the whole light setup, hanging and all...
yea you wigged me out for a second... i was like... dude... i thought i put a cfl in the ballast... was it really halogen? it fuckin looked like a cfl... made me doublecheck haha... anyways... another question... should i keep the plastic guard on it?
I would take it off unless you come into the issue if your plant growing into your light. Which it doesn't look like you have to worry about that, so yeah take it off.
