OK, I was just thinking, and if California legalizes the herb, won't a lot of stoners from around the country move there? California is already really overpopulated and this would increase overpopulation, to the point where the State might want to make it illegal again. Now we might need to make it legal on a federal level, not on a state level... But that would take tens of years, maybe hundreds....
I don't think this will cause more overpopulation. California is where weed is the most legal in the US and there probably are people who move there just for that reason even today, but I think it will increase tourism to the state more than it would make people want to move there. If California was the only place in the country to legally buy marijuana, then people from all over the country would travel there because of that, kinda like tourists in Amsterdam because of the coffee shops, but I don't think most of them would move there for good. Though some will definitely.
I really doubt many people would move their entire lives to a different state just to be able to smoke weed legally. I mean, moving expenses, the fact that housing is super expensive in most of California, careers, schooling... most people would just stay in their own states and keep it on the DL as we have been for years.
Actually, I know a few people who say that if California legalizes the herb, they will move there. So there's no bullshit, friend.
I wouldn't believe them. They'd have to quit their job, leave their current place of residence, find a new place in cali, get a new job, everything, just to smoke some weed? No
Yo, with the fault lines, maybe it would break off from the U.S.!!! Then, it'd just be a big land mass full of stoners...SHAPED LIKE A SURF BOARD.......INTHEMIDDLEOFTHEPACIFIC!!!!!!! We would be like the first, cool ass, surfboard shaped continent full of cool ass stoners all surfing on the coolest continent on earth. Really at this point, we should just accept that it's going to go down that way. We need a name for our new stoner surfboard shaped continent surfing the pacific and hanging with Hawaii sometimes too. Surfartica? Surfrica? Surfstralia? What shall we call our new continent? (Yes...it's very good weed I'm smoking actually lol)
Well we (I say we because I am a Cali native... I hate Florida =/) elected the fucking Terminator! So we are as close to our own continent as we can be =P
i agree it's easier said than done. housing is pretty expensive out here, especially right now with the economy. this isn't the gold rush, or weed rush lol
That may be true to a point, but on the other hand you may see an exodus of some anti-pot zealots out of the state.
Anyone who moves to another State just so they can smoke cannabis legally probably should reevaluate their life's priorities.
Move to Cali just to smoke Leagle....Not this one!!!!I have been the proud owner of my little piece of land for 35 years and Its all that saved me from being homeless several times in desperate times.Take a stand where you live to help change things...I have had numerous people I would never have thought were in favor of legalization speaking in favor of it here lately.I myself donate time to plant flower beds in my towns park and being a known smoker and dissedent get asked often how many pot seeds I planted in there with those flowers .....LOL.Then they will tell me they dont see why its not leagle anyways. We have to fight the image the Government has put out for so many years of what kind of people smoke weed.Show them we are just as public spirited and have the same goals in general. Its often small things that nudge us towards the general acceptance of the change we need.
IF cali legalizes then just as other states followed with medical marijuana hopefully they'll see the benifits to the state by having it legalized and others will try legalization too
I agree with oldskool. Why bother moving when you can either get active and try to change your states laws or keep paying roughly the same price while keeping it on the dl.
