hey gc i have 2 sprouted seeds in dixi cups, mg soil for violets, i have 3 42 watt cfl bulbs and have 1 over the cups now should i use all 3 right off the bat?? and what light cycle for how long?? also should i water a lot when there young? please help i have looked every where on here and cant find the answears thanks and peace.
Use 18 to 24 hours light. Water just before the top soil drys out. Never water frequently. Occasional misting can be helpful for a few days after transplant.
why do people come to these forums and read nothing? all the answers you need are in the stickys so obviously you havent read anything
Thanks pointswest for not being a douche like the other guys and ya I should be good my ghetto box is at 80 degrees I mist them when soil gets dry. And I'm doing 20 hours of light does this sound good so far? Name Calling is Not Allowed...Please Refrain from doing so in The Future...Thanks for Understanding!!
24 hours of light should be fine. You can use all 3 42 watt CFLs. Tip: DO NOT over mist the seedlings. Causes Pythium Wilt, which I learned the hard way and will kill your seedlings. Just water the soil when it gets dry on the top...
your the 1 bein a douche for not reading. all u got was how to germ seeds and ran with it. your gonna be posting a question everyday because you didnt read. i hope your grow fails idiot. Name Calling is Not Allowed...Please Refrain from doing so in The Future...Thanks for Understanding!!
well actually i have spent hours researching and reading on this site and others, and i have not found any info on what to do after sprouting. I know what to do when i get to the vegetative state and flowering even harvest but no one included how much to water or how much light is needed when the plants are just a sprout in any of the how to threads in the indoor marijuana growing or absolute beginners section. And sorry i went off and called u guys a douche but if i had the knowledge of how to grow like you guys i would gladly help a noob like me out and post a quick reply not just bash them right off the bat. I mean common guys ELE and ONE LOVE! haha thanks and PEACE
usually people on this site aren't quite that rude, but regardless, there is a lot of information at the top of each page on the stickys. anyway, a common mistake for beginners is overwatering, and also giving nutrients way to early. I also had a lot of issues finding reading material about the seedling stage (I didnt know about grasscity until well after my first try). I used rockwool, and it's almost hard to overwater it. just try not to over-love your seedlings. It's difficult, but overloving them and giving them too much attention is another common mistake (I made this one as well). also, a little heating mat under your seedlings will help the roots thrive. I wouldn't recommend using nutrients until they have 4-6 sets of leaves. and even then, use only about a 25% of the full recommended dose. I've never grown with soil, only rockwool and hydroclay. good luck, and remember to use the search feature
Don't let the negative people get the best of you. If you need any help at all - i repeat, any help AT ALL. - Just message me, I think I'm qualified with enough experience to help ya out - in most any case. And to the haters! You should be ashamed, you were a beginner too at one point, asking questions and flooding the forum with useless crap. And now your hating on this beginner..... I hope the mods squash you with their giant hammers.
You just called him a douche and an idiot.. I'm pretty sure you just did what you said wasn't allowed.. Yes I agree the op shouldn't have said thanks for not being a douche, but still if you don't want to help them don't post.. If you do give them links.. Don't torture the poor guy.. We were all there before and the question they asked could have came from anyone.. I just sprouted a lsd seed by itself and was wondering the same thing about light strength (not schedule) and I already have 3 in flowering, 1 thats coming down in 2-3 weeks.. It isn't a far out question to ask because everyone has different opinions and sometimes you just want that extra assurance.... Plus rep to you because that is exactly what the forum was made for.. OP I would suggest an 18/6 light schedule for the first few weeks just because roots grow during the dark period and the stronger your roots are the bigger your girl can get.. To know when to water you can pick up the cup and if it feels light then it needs water or you can put your finger down a little way into the soil and it if is still wet you are fine.. I don't mist unless cloning because once you have roots they know what to do.. I don't know how long a dixie cup can hold up to watering so I would probably transplant into something better once the roots are ready.. I have 3 cfls on my current lsd seedling as well so if anything goes wrong I'll let you know in advance, but I'm pretty sure you will be fine.. If you don't have a fan in there you may need to get one to bring down the temp a bit.. Goodluck and hope you get it all figured out
Since I don't think anyone has answered your question yet, I will. Provide the plants with as many watts as you possibly can without them being a heat issue. I'm thinking 100+ watts per plant (although, less is necessary when they're babies). So yes, use all three bulbs. Keep the soil moist when they're babies, once they've reached maybe their 3-4th node, let the soil get a little dryer, if they soil is dry 1 inch down, water again. The haters are right, you need to read more or your grow will fail
thanks every one for the input i will try to read more and also my temp. is 79 to 80 with 2 bulbs on and with 3 it gets to 90 somtimes 93. is this too hott? im pretty sure it is, i have a intake fan but no outake just a hole to let hot hair out do u guys think i will have a goodd temp. with 3 bulbs going if i add a fan?? thanks guys and PEACE
lol @ me bein called a hater, i wasnt hating on anything. obviously he didnt read, well just enuff to germ seeds. light cycle info is EVERYWHERE! i just find it funny everybody wants to grow but most dont want to read, instead they post questions wanting to be spoon fed. the stickys are right there looking him in the face, i guess those threads that looked important to me dont appear the same to others. common sense aint so common.
I'll spoonfeed him then if everyone wants to be an ass about it. Dude run your shit at 20/4, the one guy is right about root production. I usually run at 24 hours of consistant light but I agree with the "dark time", it does help. I've begun flowering at 12/12 a few days ago! edit: This information is solid. Check out this site - http://www.a1b2c3.com/drugs/mjgrow2.htm
No one is a "douche" for asking a question or for the manner in which they answer it. There are stupid questions and stupid answers, but let's not expand that to thinking about stupid people... To the OP, I do have to agree that you should flush those seeds and get it over with. Whether you could find your answers or not, whether the answers already exist on GC or not, is irrelevant. What is relevant is that even to a non-grower it should be fairly obvious to not begin germination until you know what to do next. Once you begin germination you have started a biological timetable of needs, right? That baby sproutling will need proper care and treatment beginning right away, so you should know what to do next. And if you don't, then you should ask on the forum before you germinate. Otherwise, it's kind of like driving home from the hospital with a newborn baby and only then first wondering if you will need a crib, where to get diapers, what to feed it, and so on. If you know nothing else about baby humans, baby MJ plants -- babies of any kind anywhere in the world -- you should know this: they can't wait around for you to figure out their basic needs, they need your care immediately. You can't get around to figuring out how to feed your baby in a few days, it will die by then. Same with any baby animal, any baby plant, including MJ. Never, ever ever EVER germinate a seed until you have a good sense of what you will need to do right away and are completely prepared for it.
QFT This is the reason i told you to kill it and get it over with in my first post, i have no problem with helping noobs as many people on here will attest to. But when some one tells me they planted their seeds in soil that is most likely going to kill there plants and then proceeds to ask 3 of the most basic questions known to GC, it makes me think killing the plant and learning how to grow would be your best option.
Gotcha.. yea i must have came in during the middle of that editing because one had it and the other didn't.. Now that makes sense haha.. Good looking out
