  1. that monitor is fuckin insane

  2. sick just sick...

ive never played any high end pc games so i ve never really had the need to buy a gaming pc. I gotta say though, that things gotta be lighting fast.

  3. just build your own, you can get a unit built with same or better specs with $400 out the door, then spend the rest on anything your heart desires!

  4. This. Also, fuck the G series. I've tried the G4, and the G5 and did not like them at all, although the G9 could be better. I just stick with the mx518.

  5. I know nothing about computers. So, forgive me for sounding retarded but are you serious?

For $400 bucks you could build a computer better than this?? The monitor alone is over $200...The mouse is $80

    Fill me in bro! Really.

OP, I could never justify spending that much money on my porn machine but it is a sweet computer!

  6. He's really over-exaggerating with 400, but you could easily get the parts for under 900. Just to put it into perspective how easy it is to put together a comp, I built my first computer when I was 14.

building a comp is easier than most lego sets... its finding the parts, and troubleshooting that is the difficult part. if you arent good at problem solving then you might as well spend the extra money and buy it prebuilt.

if anyone wants advice or needs help with their system, i have plenty of experience with hardware.

bout to build my ultra-budget machine, getting the motherboard (am2 atx), hard drive(120gb), and 8500gt(rofl i know, but its pretty much free) for $75, then getting the ram (2gb), mobo (5200+), psu and shit for about $150 new, and as soon as i get some more cash imma buy the 4770 for $100, so in total itll be a lil over $300 for a system that will outperform most $1000+ systems.. chyea

You know, that's exactly the way that I describe it to people. And it's true, for the most part. Exceptions like matching up the proper RAM to the motherboard and selecting a compatible socket on both the CPU and the motherboard can throw off first timers.

Anyone who is willing to read one of the thousands of guides online would be able to build most any computer. It is that easy, unless you start bringing in various RAID arrays and concern yourself with proper power supply units. Gotta pump enough watts to them GPUs!

Also, if no one else is going to laugh at you for spending 80 fucking dollars on a "pro-gamer" mouse, then allow me to be the first. Shit's ridiculous. If you really think that it will help you to get that extra frag, then sure, fine, have fun; but I'm still going to laugh.

  9. Not completely, i am building a unit with my co-worker, who knows much more than i do(GeekSquad Represent?!). We just go to micro center. My other co worker built one with the help of said co worker and he got a top of the line for about 500, so im not exaggeerating. You just need to know where to find parts locally.

8500gt is what i am rocking right now, and it has done just fine for me however the fan kinda sucks on it, so i need to clean it every so often.

  10. GeekSquad. Meh. Most of these guys are hacks, and not in the good way. I've partied with a few and discussed geek shit in between rounds. The vast majority know nothing about computers beyond telling the customer that they need to buy a new one.

Sure, not all of them are this way, but I'd suggest that the vast majority are. Hell, I've seen the boot CD that GeekSquad gives its workers. Unimpressed. And their expensive install jobs? Ha.

$500 is a bit low for a "top of the line" computer, but it really depends on your definition. I work at a computer store too, so I get a fatty discount, but my CPU alone set me back two hundred. GPU? I had to purchase my ATI elsewhere, but there went another two hundred. And a nice thick PSU was another $150. Then you have to pick a motherboard, memory, harddrive and the rest. I'd really say that $500 is a bit low, but it shouldn't be more than 1G for an amazingly fast computer with the best of video cards and a nice widescreen LCD. That's what I hooked my good friend up with, and it's the cheapest I could build such a dream machine for. Including solid state HDD for his OS.

  11. Thats such rubbish, unless by "local parts" you actually mean stolen then thats the only way. No retailer, whole saler, pawn shop, who ever could sell "top of the line" as of December 2009, which if you really are a nerd would mean you would HAVE to have an SSD ontop of other large storage HDD's. The least expensive 80gig SSD is no less than $280 a lone.

  12. Dunno bout all that stuff up there ^^^^ but I DO KNOW that my best friend is gonna be dropping a lot of money for a new gaming rig this holiday season.

I havn't done any PC gaming in awhile, and I can't wait to start up again. So many cool new games out there. It's also nice that he just bought a brand new 42" tv that he's using as a monitor

So to the OP +rep....I guess I feel your excitement about getting a new system....even though I'm not personally, I will get a lot of usage out of my friends :) :)
