I'm asking cuz it turned out that last summer's outdoor grow of 6 nice cloned girls (GSC, Ghost Train Haze, Blackberry Kush, Cali Lambs Bread), produced 7-8 lbs of bud ...& 7 or 8 seeds so far. I never saw balls or nanners, but the plants were 6 x 6, and they were easy to miss. Sure, I stressed the crap out of these plants during harvest. It was unavoidable managing too much harvest with only 2 people to trim it. I'd never have noticed the seed at all if I hadn't personally processed three bushels of trim and several ounces of bud using dry ice to make kief for edibles. I tossed the junk into the compost. I noticed that 1 batch had 5 or 6 hard objects in the junk I tossed. I thought they were just crusty bud I'd under-processed. Then the seed germinated in the compost pile. I'm growing out a nice vigorous plant to see if it's a girl. My last batch of kief from an oz of my Indica-dom plants produced....1 seed. So I'm curious. Couldn't this be happening all the time, with lots of outdoor grows and the breeder and grower would never know? It's a tiny amount of seed and it could slip under anyone's radar. Second question: is cannabis like other plants, with the most common free-pollinated result being selfs?
I get one seed out of every plant from two different strains I grow for some reason, I grow indoors and get a seed from blue dream and agent orange which were grown from reg seeds but it's never happened with either of my LSD plants which were fem seeds. Almost certainly selfs, it's just an evolutionary response when no males are present, some people want to blame small light interruption but it's not likely, if this were the case the moon would cause it outdoors. Unless you really stress a plant it won't herm, I wouldn't worry about it, probably just a self. Sent from my iPad using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Happy 420. I'm not worried. I don't want to waste space and time on a junk plant. It takes daily effort to keep it in veg when it won't go in the ground until June and it's growing by inches every day. I'm pretty sure I know which strain it came from. It will be interesting to see if it's a weakling.
