so yeah just got some clones. they were all in plastics cups, about 3-6in high. my question is should i transplant them to there 10gal smart pots tomorrow or should i wait. right now i just have them sitting in the grow room under a 360w MH. my first grow so any insight would be great. thanks fellas
I would let them stay in the cups til they get a strong root system going. maybe somewhere between 6-10 inches.
depends on how big the plastic cups are. personally, i'd x-plant now. you don't want to go right to your final container until their size (especially 10 gals.) warrants it. why did you choose 10 gallons? unless you're growing outside, forget about using a container soooooo large. your 360 watt light, will not penetrate very far into the canopy, maybe 6" or less. that means you're gonna have height problems and too much plant for your light. i wouldn't go more than a couple gallons (3) or less.
no dude im using a lumatek dimable 600w with raptor hoods. i just was told to put it at 360 for now. thats why im using the 10gal bc im running 2 600w.
ohhhh, you have one of the adjustables, me too. i finish my plants under a 1000 watt light. even then, i never go larger than a 5 gallon container. i use the rule of thumb, one gallon of medium per foot in height. even with a 1000 watter, you'll have canopy penetration limitations. you simply don't need that much medium. oh, and remember, those clones are the same age as the mother they were taken from. so as soon as you see a good root system, you can start treating them like adults.
Hey growbot I have a few questions, you seem more knowledgeable and experienced than i think i am, would you mind if i pm'd you and asked you? Or if you want you can check out my current grow in my sig.
