hey guys, i was driving to a friends house when a cop pulled me over for not having my front lisence plate on (it was on my dashboard because i dont have a bracket) well anyway after like 5 mins a second cop car pulls up and the cop comes over and tells me to step out of my car, then he tells me my car is going to be searched by a drug dog and asks me to tell him if anything illegal is in my car. i freaked out and told him that i had a bowl under my front seat (luckily i left my weed in a friends car the day before on accident) well the dog searched they found my bowl, put me in the back of the cop car and said they are summoning my to court. AM I FUCKED? i have never been in trouble for anything with the law before, i dont know if i need to get a lawyer, my mom has no idea i smoke and i dont want her to know. god damnit im so pissed right now, anyone with any ideas help me out. i dont know why the searched my car, i dont see how they had any reason to other than im a 19 year old kid. god guys. wish me luck with this shit.
there was no reason for him to search from the story your telling? he didn't even get out, a second car just came and he asked you to get out so he could search it? did you ask him why he was searching?
Unless you neglected to mention something, they had no right to search you're car HOWEVER you admitted to having the bowl so that was a bad fucking idea. The only chance you have, which is slim, is that your lawyer will convince a judge that the search was illegal.
What state are you in? Law veries greatly. YOU can refuse to have a search. COps need probable cause. next time say. I do not consent to a search. and when you get out of the car lock your door. Ask if you can leave.(am i being detained? or am i free to leave now). you should not have told them of having something illegal. Dont worry u probally wont even get probation. I was on a roadtrip and i got busted with less than 2 ounces. Wich is a class c misdameanor. I got arrested bailed out and have to right a letter to the judge every month and send 40$ a month thats it. It was my first offense like ures. My bondsman said 95% of the first time offenders that get the lowest class misdeamnor which anything under 2 ounces would be only get what i gotten. I wouldnt really worry bout it.
When u refuse to let them search ure car its enough probale cause for them to call the K9. And also did u smell like weed. If u did that would be probale cause. Where ure pupils red or dilated or anything. Its not hard at all for a cop to have probale cause. A young kid driving around at night is enough probale cause for cops.
even if you said you wont let them search ur car, they would have gotten a warrant in 30 minutes. you wont be in that much trouble
What the fuck? Salvia and marijuana have no similiarities whatsoever. Going by your story, you fucked yourself by letting them search your car. I got pulled over on the highway and the cop asked me if he could search my car, I told him no. He then said he can call a dog if I would rather do that. I still told him no. He let me go with a ticket.

Damn,that situation was completely handled incorrectly.He had no reason to search your car,the reason he had to pull you out was very much un-probable cause,and I hope you don't get screwed that much seeing as you were somewhat honest.Learn from this man,and avoid sketchy situations like this to the best of your ability.
dammnnn....if you had onyl seen that ACLU video before this happened... they had no right to search your car for the plate being the in the front window, as long as its visible...the plates didnt come back stolen or anything, your license and registration checks out, the only probable cause to search would be stuff in plain sight or smell of marijuana... do you think the cop saw the bowl sticking out under your seat?? otherwise, you should have confronted the cop and asked why he wanted to search and if he was gonna issue a traffic ticket or if you were free to go...keep the cops on the question-answering side of things if you can in the future man hopefully you don't get fucked with too bad with fines and probation, this bowl is for you in hopes that everything is straight good luck, and watch that ACLU video...deff. will help in the future.
They can call whatever they fucking want but you still have a right to lock your property up and refuse to let them gain any access by law they really can't detain youfor long periods of time with nothing but that as the reason you have no obligation to dig yourself a ditch in any way from begging for a break to them trying to make you tell them car door lock codes/passwords/ect privacy rights as well as check 'n balance systems do exsist..stop thinking you're rights go out the fucking window and start watching any traffic stop hell request badge numbers or catch the plate # if you see cops breaking the law sooner you all back each other up by protecting privacy and freedom when crook ass cops spit on it sooner you aren't big bro bitchs
when there is resin from an illegal substance in the pipe that is when the paraphenalia becomes illegal. if you keep it clean then there are no worries.
If you tell cops you don't want them to search your car, then why do they have to abide by that rule and call the dog. The dog still searches. How is a dog allwoed to search but not a cop?
