Just got a LOT of weed, ok to store it like that?

Discussion in 'Experienced Cannabis Enthusiasts' started by templeoflove, Aug 29, 2006.

  1. I have gotten so much weed (for free don't ask me how :)) it would maybe even last me for a full year. My question is if I'm going to have it around so long, can it loss potency or more important become hazardous to the health you know like mold can grow on it or something? It's currently in zip-lock bags. So what should I do? Take out of the zip-lock bags and do something else?

I do think everything should be fine because I'm sure a lot of the weed we smoke, hell since it's illegal it could have been in underground tunnels in Mexico for years and we smoke it and everything is fine but I want to be on the safe side.

  2. I'd sell half of it in small quantities to make money to buy more ganja or to use for other stuff.

The smaller the amount you sell in, the more money you make back. Two ounces can go in a couple of hours easily if you have a lot of friends who smoke.

  3. Seal the bags well and store in the freezer..will last 4ever

  4. vaccum seal it till you are ready to use it

  5. I live with my parents so I can't put it in a freezer and I only smoke by myself. When you say vacuum sealing, what you mean? Isn't something like using a zip-lock bag and put it through a machine or something, don't have that either. And so it is bad just to keep those in zip-lock bags, right?

And nah, I don't want to sell that weed it's very very good weed, high-class shit!

  6. Something sounds fishy... Really high-class shit for free... but you don't know what to do with it? Doesn't sound like a smoker to me?

  7. Good weed goes for good money. Have someone smoke a bowl and if it's really that good it won't be hard to sell.

But if you want to smoke it yourself, it shouldn't lose that much potency if you just keep it in something that is air tight. I've smoked a joint that I found in a friend's couch before that she said had probably been there for over a year and I still got a buzz from it. (And that's sitting in a paper exposed to air and being constantly sat on. I mean, I don't think the loss in potency is that big of a deal but if it's good shit I can understand you'd want to preserve it.

Go buy a bunch of glass jars or something.

  8. yes, glass jars and store them in a cool place.

  9. I'm not too concerned about potency because it is really really good, you can believe me on that one, and I just don't want to sell it, anybody who tried it couldn't believe what they were puffin on. It's a long story how I got it for free but of course it wasn't something that someone would give for free, get my point? But anyways, all I'm really worried that it can become hazardous if you keep it in zip-lock bags so I should get a jars then and only open it when I need to pinch some weed off? And on top of that, can it be regular jars or does it have to be air-tight jars?

  10. how much bud is a LOT of bud?

    just curious.

  11. I'm sure a lot of the weed we smoke, hell since it's illegal it could have been in underground tunnels in Mexico for years and we smoke it and everything is fine but I want to be on the safe side.[/quote]

what kind of weed are you smokin? underground mexican tunnels for years?

  12. Taken from Canabible.

The best way to store marijuana depends on how long you wish to store it for. Once the her is properly dried and cured, you need to determine the expected length of storage time. For small amounts that won't last very long a jar, dry place will be sufficient. For quantities that will last longer, such as a month, refrigeration is reccomended, prefrably in sealed glass jars. For amounts that will last longer then a month, freezing is the best option. Buds stored in the freezer will not deteriorate noticeably, as long as the herb is not taken out of the freezer often. Every time it is removed from the freezer, moisture is drawn though the vegetative tissues to the ouside of the buds, which can affect the taste and quality. Transferring enough stored marijuana from the freezer to the refrigerator to cover your short-term marijuana needs can cut down on the number of occasions it is taken out of the freezer. (You dont want to go in to the freezer every time you want to enjoy a nugget)

  13. Seal the weed in mason Jars

  14. Haha. Certainly that's not the case with mine, I hope.

  15. Mason jars have worked the best for me. Get the kind that leaves the top on while you twist off the sealer. That way you won't be letting the weed be exposed for too long, you can just grab some out real quick and put the top on right away. Personally i like my weed to smell and taste fresh. You can do this by putting orange peels (or celery, blueberries, strawberries) in the jar with them, just make sure to take them out after a day.

    Now the question is
how did you get all that weed?
    For free!? :confused_2: :bolt:

  16. I don't think we're supposed to talk about "selling"

Walmart sells mason jars for cheap. Probaly your best bet.

  17. i Guess u gat the storing down just make sure the eed is completely dry. if its ALOT in a package it might be moist in the middle. and u dont want mold in ur jars.

  18. Glass jars are key for storing large amounts as well as giving the herb a progressive cure. Many places sell large mason jars,so I highly recommend you pick up one.

  19. So 1/2 ounce in a jar is fine? Also no of you answered my question yet, can the weed become hazardous if you store it in zip-locks like for several months or a year?
