Just renewed my contract (at&t) and went from iPhone 3gs 8gb to Samsung Galaxy S3 for $99. Not really by choice, my at&t store was out of the iPhone 5 and I didn't feel like waiting a week. I am definitely happy with my purchase so far but there is so friggin much to learn. Any tips on apps to download, good games exc.

I have all of my stuff organized into my scrollable dock at the bottom. Folders for games, navigation, shopping, social etc.
Root your phone and remove all the bloatware. It makes the phone run so much better, and there are tutorials everywhere.
Yep, root your phone, install a custom recovery like CWM or TWRP, and flash a custom ROM. I recommend this one It's an AOKP Jelly Bean ROM with added customization features to stock. It'll run sooooo much faster than stock, I promise. Better battery life also. Afterwards, I recommend using Nova Launcher. As far as apps go. Music: Google Play Music (if you use that service connected to your music library on your pc), Noozy (Windows Phone style music player, really beautiful), UberHype (mobile client for AWESOME music discovery service, HypeMachine), 8tracks, iSyncr Utilities: Titanium Backup (backs up almost everything you'd ever want to, useful when flashing ROMS), HD Widgets, HaxSync Everything else: The Verge (for news), Reddit News, xda app
