Just bought a keyboard

  1. I just bought a Casio CTK-700 keyboard. It's 61 key beginner keyboard, but it's all i could afford. Now I can write the keyboard parts for the song I've been working on with my guitar. If it's got drum tones with it, I'll be able to add that as well. I can't wait for it to get here. gah!

Any other musicians out there? I am proficient with trumpet. That was my first love, and will always be a love, but she doesn't work at 2 in the morning with people in the house. So at the beginning of summer I picked up an acoustic guitar which I unfortunately havn't learned too much on, but i've been writing riffs with as opposed to learning guitar theory. As with the keyboard, I'm not proficient with it either... obviously being a musician I can read music, and as such naturally picked up the keyboard to where i can atleast slowly push out a song, I just can't play well... so I'm anxious to learn how to play because my grandma said she's leaving me her baby grand I am so in love with when the time comes :-/

So who knows, maybe in a few months my song will be at a semi-presentable level, and I can get in my friend's studio and record it for yall... we'll see.

What do you all play? Got any work you've posted online?

With the song I'm currently working with my influences are Pink Floyd, Tool, and Sigur Ros... it's my own song, with my own twist to my style, but there are elements of those three shining through.

I'm also looking to pick up some mixers and shit, get my Fruity Loops back, and maybe start some trance songs. DJing is a hellova lot harder for me then "conventional" music. So who knows. Any of you DJ's? What's the best way to learn? I figured becoming more proficient with the keyboard would be a vital start to becoming a DJ.

    But here's my keyboard:

  3. Nice dude. The keyboard is my favorite instrument.

  4. Nice,

Can that keyboard be patched into a computer for composition on a machine? FL is alot of fun, especially the live/performance aspect of it. I've had better luck using Reason or Cubase with a keyboard. Last year for a studio project I was working on, I bought a Nord Lead 3 keyboard. It's a great tool, also it's really good for performances.
