Just bought a brick of coconut coir and it smells like chemicals

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by K.a.h.86, Nov 17, 2022.

  1. I just bought a brick of "aquaculture coconut husk fiber" and after i moistened itz it has a weird chemical smell. I can't quite place the smell but it may be similar to acetone? Other bricks of coco I've used before havent smelled like this. Is this common? Its the kind sold for pets. Is the stuff marketed for pets treated with something vs the stuff thats marketed for plants?

  2. I trust you nose . It smells like chemicals its ok for pets and not for your smoking plants . Your plants will absorb all that bs that causes cancers . I am far from an expert with using what your asking about . But i never smelled chemicals in it . Strong pass !
