I was going to post this in the introduction forum, but since it's a ramble and fairly disconnected I decided to post it here. It's just a rant to let some steam off. Some background about myself: I am an Indian American (East Indian) attending college at Washington University in St. Louis, currently a sophomore. I started smoking marijuana out of curiosity after researching the topic for a little bit during my freshman year - however, due to asthma, I don't smoke much, and usually use a bong or vaporizer because my lungs and throat irritate quickly. first semester, my GPA was 3.5, barely making Dean's List. Second semester after beginning to smoke, my GPA for the semester was 3.88. I don't think that the marijuana really helped raise my grades, but it definitely did not hurt them. I take academics pretty seriously, being somewhat of a nerd growing up - I actually avoided marijuana in high school because I was falsely told that it caused brain deformations with long-term use. Once I found out that was false, and once I found out about the mind-expanding properties of the drug, I decided to experiment. Needless to say, I am not a typical weed smoker (although I'm slowly finding out that those stereotypes have little to no basis in them). Whenever I go to my dealer, I feel really nervous and out of place, and I don't even really fit in with the "potheads" around me. What really frustrated me, however, was a comment by a parent while at the park close to my home. I was smoking a joint (seems very overt and careless, I know, but it's the safest spot during the day because cops rarely walk into the park). The comment was something along the lines of: "You loser. How dare you smoke pot in front of my kid!" She may have had a point if not for the fact that she was smoking a cigarette. The hypocrisy of that comment really ran deep, irresponsible parenting aside - after talking with my neighbors who always seem to know everything about everyone in the subdivision, I found out that she was a high school dropout. Here was a high school dropout, smoking in front of her kids. Sure it was outside where the secondhand smoke was negligible, but in a car or indoors the secondhand smoke could actually be damaging to such a small child. She felt she was in a position to criticize me, someone she knows nothing about, based on the fact that I was smoking a joint during summer break. Has anything similar happened to you? I'm sure this story is a dime a dozen, but I had to get this off my chest. -RC
Hey its alright relax. I have never gotten that saying because I usually toke with a group of people in the day time and plus they can barely see my eyes anyways She's probably a loser too cause how would she know what your smoking is pot? So this means she probably smoked at least once during her lifetime... And screw what others think, screw all those haters. Just be happy that comment didnt come from your mom lol
i like to go to the park to smoke too. most of the time i bring a lil gram baggie or w/e and a pipe to avoid that situation. the park i smoke at is kinda overrun by stoners too...can see blunt guts, black & milds, and ive even noticed a smashed glass piece a few times. the walk paths always smell like smoke and theres a 50/50 chance youll run into someone whos there to smoke also.
