my boyfriend and i have been arguing about this for a little while now. i think that john and jonathon are the same name and he seems to disagree with me. so what does everyone think? John and Jonathon are the same name? or two differnt names completley.
*ehem* hey mishy, lol. personally i would argue that John is a different name than Jonathon but the latter is sometimes shortened to Jon. John is an entirely different name.
John is a seperate name from Jonathan. Jon, however, is shortened from Jonathan. At least that is what I think. My boyfriend's name is Jon.
Yeah my name is John and i get mad when people forget to add the H however my friend Jon is short for his full name: Jonathan. hope this clears things up, sorry its not the answer you wanted. keep tokin'n'growin
My name is jonathan and most people i know just shorten it to jon, but if I see that my name gets writtes down as john, or spelt johnathan I am sure to correct it.
Different names. John can be a nickname of Jonathan, but the two don't need to be one and the same. For instance, my boyfriend is Jonathan and VERY few people ever call him John.
