i've said this for years, and it wasn't until recently that people stopped making fun of me for it. He is by far one of the most talented guitarists/musicians of all time
He lost credibility with his first pop album, but people are starting to realize what an amazing musician he is.
I've always been criticized for being a BIG John Mayer fan. Continuum is one of my all time favorite albums. My favorite song to listen to while baked from John Mayer is either "Gravity" or "Slow Dancing in a Burning Room"
I find John Mayer perplexing, because I can see that he is a very talented musician, but I just cannot get into his music. I have that problem with a lot of quite influential bands though.
Yea, you can be a good musician and not make good music... "good" is subjective after all. I kind of agree with you on John Mayer... I'm not too impressed with what I've heard him put out in albums, but live performances and covers are where he has really impressed me.
