John Butler Trio

  1. Has anyone else heard of John Butler? He's one of the most amazing guitarist i've ever heard. His vocals are actually pretty good and his songs have meaning. He plays a 12 string guitar with 11 strings, missing whichever is the next to highest string. Most original guitarist ever.

John Butler - Ocean (my favorite song, if you like this you should download his full 9 minute instrumental of this)

John Butler Trio - Take (this sounds different than his other stuff, more of a harder rock feel)

  2. I've heard of them, but only heard a few songs so far.

They're playing an outdoor show not too far from here in a couple weeks I think, maybe I'll go find a nice smoke spot to sit and listen from. :smoking:

  3. John Butler Trio is pretty bomb, I've got a couple of their albums and they just have a pretty good unique sound mixing in things like bluegrass in their music.

  4. Saw them in concert in Boston with Guster, such a good show, John Butler is the man. I love the stand up bass in the band too, and how John plugs his banjo into a wah pedal at live shows, such a sweet sound. :bongin:

  5. I have to thank you for introducing this guy to me. I like Company Sin, Money, Under an Indian Sky and Busted. Unfortunately that live version of Ocean is 10X better than the recorded version, I'm glad he changes shit up though.

  6. Check out this jam he did at Coachella. Watch the crowd increase from the start of the song to the end, starts out with just a hundred or so and by the end theres atleast a thousand people out there. He mixes it up and the whole trio does a percussion solo

  7. I could not be happier right now.

    Wednesday 3rd Vancouver, BC
    September CANADA

NINE DAYS. I might have to throw something at him for cutting off his dreads. Perhaps not though...that drummer looks like he could beat the shit out of anyone. Great jam btw, you don't get to see many bands having that much fun.

  8. i was there too, such a fun time at the shell. Jonny B is one of my favorite artists after dispatch.

  9. Heard of him long ago. Met him in philly a few times. Very cool down to earth dude.

WXPN 88.5 in philly had him about 4 years ago and it was at the TLA before the re-do. Very small and empty show

  10. I really like Dispatch, I had to listen to them if you say their better than JB. They have a sound similar to O.A.R. but with a slightly darker tone.

    Dispatch - General

  11. I'm totally going to go hangout and have some drinks at the outdoor venue they're playing at in a couple weeks. (Since I turn 21 in 3 days :D)

I can't afford the tickets to see them, but I'll damn sure be able to hear them! :hello:

  12. I totally want that youtube version of Ocean in an mp3. Bet it's impossible to get.

Think my favorite song would be What You Want.

  13. JBT is the fucking shit! I just joined grasscity and I am so happy to see that people are aware of the John Butler Trio. I'm trying to perfect Ocean on my 12 string and am getting really close. I still yet have to see them live, but that will be the day.

    Keep on tokin' :D
