I have a job interview in about an hour. Does anyone have any tips for a young man desperate for a job? Im a little nervous but Im gonna try to go in there BOSS style and be mad confident. Anyways ANY tips are much appreciated Its a seasonal retail job by the way. Nothing great but as I said before, Im desperate.
Word, I have a job interview tommorow, and then one on friday. I'm just gonna go in their, smile a lot and be nice... if that doesn't get you the job then what can you really do? Beg. (don't actually beg )
Yeah Bake I believe in both of us haha. We got this shit. But...Do any older more wise GC members have some words of wisdom to bestow upon thee? Please Have to start getting dressed soon.
At the end of the interview when he asks any more questions. Say yea. Where does the employee of the month park because i need to know where im going to be parking from now on.
Dress presentably. Ask pointed questions. Tell them why you are the best person for the job. Don't fidget and look the interviewer in the eyes.
Ohh forgot to mention its a "group" interview which I thought was kind of odd. I have never done one before. I didnt even know they did these at all to be honest.
Well the time is about to come. I have to go get dressed but I when I get home Ill tell you guys how it went Wish me luck!
Just got back and I got the job! Im so stoked. The interview consisted of me and 6 other people (All women except for me lol). Two of the women were wearing jeans which I thought was one of the dumbest things you could do. I was the only one to say "Hi, hows it going" and shake hands. They asked us around ten question and we all had to answer them going down the line. A lot of people were saying "Ohh what she said pretty much" and stuff like that. I tried to give original ass answers and smile my ass off haha. At the end they asked me and two of the other women to "stay back" because "we left out somethings on our application" (Which means we got it ). We then had to fill out a huge packet of papers and all that crap. I have to take a drug test sometime soon which I know Ill pass, been clean for like 2 months. But yeah, after that we were free to leave. I was the only one to shake his hand as we left too. Im so stoked Forgot to mention I was the youngest person there and the only one with no prior job/retail experience.
Haha fuck yeah I went in there like a fucking BOSS! Good luck to you tomorrow man You gotta tell me how that shit goes.
Good advice. I've had several bosses stress the importance of eye contact and a willingness to get shit done in a confident way. OP: Congrats sir. My last job I'm sure was landed due to eye contact and shaking hands. Everyone else just seemed uncomfortable and didn't even say hi or bye. Good luck at your new place.
I got a job today too! Being nice, original, and confident are the KEYS to getting a job. Look them in the eye, be confident, and be nice. I told my new manager (AWESOME) that I was always on time, and I made it a point to tell him that I'll know my job in entireity by the 1st week and that I'm friendly and fun. That's what they want, someone who will do their job, be fun and friendly, and be on time. but congrats again!!
