influential to what? overall i'd say bob marley. i'd say bob marley did a lot more to promote peace than hendrix. hendrix was too busy touring to really do anything and he only had 3 years. if we're talking strictly music then hendrix hands down.

I think the people that say Hendrix did a lot for music/guitar are overplaying what he actually did... I don't think he was that influential actually. He was a bit but not like some people say anyway. Bob Marley sorta contributed to some subcultures and shit, and I guess that's worth considering. But in my opinion both of them made bad music... So what do I know? I see people with Bob Marley shirts all the time and think "man I bet they don't actually listen to that"

Good job at finding the coolest picture you can of Jimi, and then finding the shittiest picture of Bob Marley. First of all, they're two different types of music, and personally Bob Marley is what I prefer. And you can't say Jimi Hendrix is more influential. There's kids who know nothing about Bob Marley rocking his t-shirts and rocking rasta colors just because they smoke weed, but the sad part is the majority don't even listen to his music, or smoke weed. But yeah, Marley definitely wins the most influential over Hendrix, can't argue with it.

Jimi Hendrix used tones and recording techniques that were extremely innovative for the time. He also change the way lead guitar was looked at with his use of distortion and feedback. Look at machine gun if you want a example this song is grate. He was also a extreamly versatile rhythm player.
