http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread912352/pg1 This is a story a friend of mine just sent me and it really made me think about the book and movie "into the wild" and how true what these people have experienced is I just thought it would be interesting to see what other people would have to say about the whole off the grid living screw bull shit society thing would be as i can't be the only wondering how amazing it really could be considering all the day to day bull shit people go threw and how its just not even worth it for what your really getting.
The bullshit we go thru on a day to day bases is better than mot havonf food water or enoufh energy to gather these things.... do people really think hunting for squirrel and berries would be better than anywhere in the usa I dont think so reallly... oh and if you ran out of mj halfway through wintee you would be screwed haha
Yah your right but i think when the the price of everything goes up and people like you don't know how to do anything without relying on being able to walk into a store and paying for something are going to be the ones who are screwed but thats kind of a different story... But there are people out there that do it... although im not trying to convice everyone to run of and be a monk but if your going to shave your head i bet it would be a better idea then joining the army..
OP - link didn't work. Hopefully this will: Jesus spent 40 days in the Desert. I only spent 21, but here's what began to happen;, page 1 It's not about Jesus. It's about someone getting away from ALL of it for 21 days. It's really good. I highly suggest the read. Good catch, OP, and I'm on ATS too.
Thanks ill try to fix that now if i can i know i kind of didn't explain it all the way in the first post to and thats kind of my fault but still once you read that its trippy
Oh no - I wasn't pointing a finger at you. I was just clarifying because *I* would have skipped over it if I saw it on ATS because it sounded to be about a biblical story. So it's whatever. Great story and I don't know what's up with the link either. I got the same error as you, so I edited the post and disabled parsing or something. It still didn't work so I edited it yet again and then it worked. Go figure...
That is a pretty interesting read. It would be great if someone did the same thing, but with the intentions to write and document the experience in detail. This is a thought provoking overview of the experience, though.
Sorry thats my fault again i didn't mean to come off like that my arizer just has me in a completley different state of mind right now i actually don't use ats myself it really was a friend of mine who knows a bit of sicense that saw it and knows im not a very big fan of the way society works and thought i should read it also im actually an athiest and see this story as a very clever metaphor and thats why i posted it in the box instead of religion since i don't believe in it myself.. although i don't want to start a religion war as i know im not going to magically convince anyone anything
People like me... im an outdoor wilderness urvicioe dude I lived in mountains bud... I was also homeless for a year before I pickes myseld up... so dont say people like you... id rat hwr enjoy the comfort of good diverse foods and a warm house.. I bet you have even come close to the experiwnxe ive had In life so take a hike
I don't think your getting the point of this... being homeless in society is a lot different then going out into the middle of nowhere and suriving... and if you actually lived in the mountains and are what you say you are i don't see how you don't understand that In the wild or whereever you would be spending every day making sure you had everything you need like food for the next couple of days clean water wood for the fire shit like that... being homeless because you couldn't handle holding down a job and the crap like that is a lot different when you look at but i can see how you went from being homeless and having a home and enjoying that fact so its probably changing the way you would look at But yah i know... obviously you can't just post up in a downtown area and try to start living on the streets and i know no one is actually going to go start living in the woods... theres just a point to this dudes story that means something... people seem to miss that
He was proven to have lived and teached in the time period described in the bible. But to each their own, I'm not here to preach, or start a war
See when described like that its very believeable... its like marc emery.. he preached in our times and people didn't like that to much so they sent him away haha i may not believe in the bible/religion deal myself but it sure has some crazy connections to things

I lurk ATS and read this yesterday. ATS is a site filled with fearlovers but everyonce n awhile you find some gems. This is one.
This makes me want to go camping. Me and my cousin and our girls usually go camping every summer with some friends for the last 4 or so and we go for a week. By the end of it you are used to the quiet and calmness. It's a great place for me since i suffer from social anxiety really bad and i operate alot better in a setting like that where i am alone more and don't have to take orders.
