Jeff Sessions wants to increase asset forfeiture

Discussion in 'Politics' started by Lucky Luke, Jul 22, 2017.

  1. They been pulling this bullshit robbery forever. Nothing new. The pigs seize anything they want from someone never even charged of a crime (not to mention victimless crimes) the department takes a cut to buy more military grade gear so they can run roughshod through the streets looking like a damn SWAT team and then get a pat on the back from the state cause the state got a piece of the stolen pie too. The poor son of a bitch that was robbed was never charged or tried and might have been totally innocent in many cases. Same shit different flies.

yep, but wasnt it only state and local before and not Federal?...The article mentions a reversal of an Obama law.

  3. I'm not sure but I really don't give a shit. Do you give a shit whether you get robbed by a nicely dressed guy or a bum in an ally? Hell no you don't. Point is you got robbed.

  4. agreed..but now they can use federal law to do it. This means they can rob more people.

"Two years ago, then-Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. barred state and local police from using federal law to seize cash and other property without criminal charges or warrants."

  5. Yeah, I hear ya. Maybe I miss understood then but I thought that you thought this was a new practice all together.

  6. no. seen a few programs on it and a friend in Cali is going through it.

  7. This shit infuriates me more than taxation. Makes me want to go load up my AR.

  8. New Zealand arrests more people for marijuana than the US .. and we too have an asset forfeiture program .. big time.

.. makes me wary of ever buying property. What do we really own these days, anyway?

  9. The difference is you have to be guilty.

In America you can be proven innocent or even not charged at all. They take it regardless.

I dont see how New Zealand could arrest more people. Im not trying to be a dick here but the population difference is staggering.

  11. A social media/gaming friend of mine grows over there. South island I think. He has been done with a huge plant count in the past and got a slap on the wrist. Due to only a slap on the wrist he usually has a huge plant count... He has had trouble with seed clearing customs recently.

  12. It used to be pretty mellow.. but ever since the 2011 earthquakes, police took advantage of a disgruntled public and a shortage of housing to really crack down on marijuana, along with all drugs. I mean, people are currently dying from smoking synthetic weed, because they can't get the real deal.. due to shortages.

  13. damn,,yea that synthetic stuff is bad.
So many smokin that here now to due to drug tests for work.

  15. I do agree on this
Sessions was one of Trump biggest failures
Time to weed old the old dead wood who have no business making decisions for us age the age of 80 and above
    Term Limits are needed

  16. I get the appointment.. Sessions was the first mainstream republican with any power in line to support him. So he deserved some sort of position, since that's how shit works..
But he's a very dangerous pick for ag in my opinion.
    Said that since day 1.

Trump us already tweeting about him this morning.. His day are numbered.

I hope he fires him, so we can watch democrats fall in love with and defend Jeff sessions like they did with comey.
Will make for more epic entertainment.

  17. You can never own property, at least not in the US, you just lease it from the state. My wife and I "own" a home but if we stop paying our rent aka property tax to the state we will see real quick who actually owns that house.

  18. Asset forfeiture laws are fucked up and seem little more than outright banditry to me, but why is OP pretending this is a Trump problem? If Trump is a fascist for this, you have to agree that Obama is fascist too since forfeiture skyrocketed under his presidency.

  19. Maybe because the OP actually read the story

"At a meeting with county sheriffs on Feb. 7, President Trump made clear to law enforcement officials that he is a strong supporter of the civil asset forfeiture program and told the Justice Department to rescind the Obama administration restrictions."
