Hi Buzz, glad your liking my little expedition so far. You have quite the show going on as well so thanks for taking the time to drop in Bugs Bugs Bugs. They certainly love herb plants. I tried the ivory dish soap solution which worked for a couple days, now they seem to be immune to it. I figured if I was serious about harvesting some outdoor bud this year I better get this under control. The guys at the grow store sold me on the combo of the neem and the insect soap. Sprayed then down today with it, will hit them again in a few days. Pics were taken yesterday before the spraying.
I was up bright and early and so were the critters. I suspect trouble lies on the horizon. The pics are a little fuzzy as I was taking them through a screened window. I suspect the little ones would be more apt to try out strange and non-native plants.
Just as I suspected. I had some of the weaker plants I did not plan to put in the ground still in pots as sentry's posted on the perimeter of the spot. I figured if critters ventured in they would see these first and munch on them instead of my main girls. Sure enough one of my sentry's were ravaged and some others just got lightly snacked on. Only one girl in the plot was nibbled on. Just when you thought you were done working and just gonna relax for a bit, back to work again. First the bugs now the critters. Dam this outdoor growing is tough! Your fighting so many different elements its a wonder anyone gets to harvest anything! Got to persevere dammit!
Otherwise things are going pretty well. The girls are bathing in neem and insect soap. So far so good. I watch some insects fly in expecting the normal fare but clearly did not like what was on the menu currently. They seem to be exploding in growth. I decided to use grow big instead of fish emulsion because of fear of attracting more critters. I think I am going to start researching organic teas and such however.
hey man!! I just went through ur thread, and i gotta give u +rep for ur plants..seems like u've been taking very good care of them. I'm looking forward to learn stuff from u since i'm doing my first outdoor grow. And about that critter problem, why don't u just get a shotgun ? haha just joking my man i'm subscribed and will be waiting for ur updates. Good luck
hey dude your plants look great! got to run but ill be back to catch up on the reading later bro good growing!
Thanks dude! Hey soul thanks for coming through. certainly glad to help with any questions you may have. I got to tell you outdoors is alot of work. Just make sure you have a completely DL spot so your hard work will pay off in the end. Rippers and critters are your worst enemy! Good luck dude. Thanks alot man. Certainly appreciate the love. Checking out some of your work as well as I am interested in brewing up some organic teas myself. Hopefully by next season I will have acquired enough knowledge to have a fully organic outdoor crop. Nothing new to report today. Realized I need alot more security fencing that I initially thought. Trying to make as wide a perimeter as possible around each plant. Hopefully will get this knocked out tomorrow and will update afterwards.
hey man go take a look in the organic section about organic pesticides. there are some great recipes in there that i use as well. it really works great. try it out if the neem dont work. anyway your plants are looking very healthy man. some serious lush green girls. love the sativa pheno on the jamaican. all your strains outside are jamaican correct? hopefully the buds will smell like blueberry come harvest
good call on the organic section. sometimes I just head right to google without realizing how much great info is on this site. Thanks for pointing me in the correct direction. Everything outside is Jamaican. I am excited about the clearly sativa pheno's as well. I had heard that alot of the genetics in jamaica had been watered down by amsterdam genetics so it was hard to find some true jamaican sativa. Im hoping I got lucky! The only concern I have at this point is that they will finish in time. I will be hoping for a nice long indian summer come sept
So i was contemplating taking a stroll down to the spot today, but then I got off some blue dream. Very tasty and potent smoke with some hazy after taste. I try again tomorrow
Great plants man! A tabasco water mixture might work with the groundhogs if they end up attacking. If its too spicy they wont want to eat it. It worked to keep our dog from chewing shit around our house. I donno what effect that would have on your plants though so maybe it's a bad idea. Love the video though
Quick little update. growth continues at a rapid rate. got a couple plants over 5 1/2 ft right now. Bugs still eating but not as bad. continued spraying with neem appears the baby groundhogs are munching on select lower leaves. they appear to like the newer, more tender shoots better. only got 1 plant surrounded by fencing. need to get the others done asap!
yeah not sure about the tabasco sauce. I may try it on one of my sentry plants as they are still in the midst of heavy combat and seeing contact daily. more pics
Update from the spot today, things are looking better than they ever have. It seems the neem + insect soap is keeping the majority of the bugs away. That is a great thing! I also declared war on the groundhogs because they were out of control with the munching of plants! They began to eat my tomato plants as well so I decided it was time for an eviction. I located all 5 escape holes plus the main entrance, blocked them all off with boulders, then stuck my garden hose down there and let it rip. I was told this will only aggravate them and they will just dam up the river coming in. However since this momma has 4 kids, I figured she wouldnt fight but find a better home instead. well its been almost 4 days and no sight of them since! On to the plants now. I am surprised at how fast of a clip they continue to grow. I have a couple that are approaching six feet and about as tall as me. Jamski 1 is not the tallest anymore but she is still trooping along nicely.
more pics. The pic of the plant with the machete is jdr3 18, the one I topped early on and has grown like 5 main cola's. This thing is a true weed bush. Hopefully they all will finish in time! Here is the view down the hill into the spot from my backyard. I think they blend in well
Hey Supa nice Girls bro I'll get some pics up of my outdoor durban poison grow soon >Humboldt County Grower<
Hey thanks man. Yeah do that shit! start a journal. I love to see plants out in nature thriving! Humboldt County, La.?
