Jamaica/Violents

Discussion in 'Pandora's Box' started by Dizzy, Nov 16, 2020.

  1. I Just Wanna Tell You Guys if You Ever Plan on Going to My Home Country Jamaica Please Reconsider. It Issa Beauitiful Place but Over the Years The Crimes Keep Getting Worse.

I Got Family Over There Still an I Talk to Them on FB they Tell Me Some of What Goes On. Recently Big News over There Isa 17 Year Old Girl Named Kaylan Dowdie was Almost Beat an Stabbed To Death by a Group of People. She Gotta Fracture Skull an Broken Arm an Internal Injuries.

This Almost Exactly Like What Happen To Me When I was 16 it's How I Got My Head/Braain Injury this Situation Only Slightly Different Then Mine it Took Place at a Party...that Shouldn't Even Been Going On in The First Place Because Jamaica's COVID Restrictions

Not Only Just The Beatings Going on There tho the Place is Infested With Drug Gangs an The % Of Rapes Has Really Went Up Too. It Really Sucks an Makes Me Sad Because I Love Jamaica an Always Will but I'm Glad I Left When I Did an I Lucky to Be Alive Still. If Anyone From G.C Planning on Going there in the Future Please think Really Hard about it an if You do Go Be Extra Cautious of Your Surroundings Y'all!

Girl beaten to brink of death

There are only smiling faces when Kaylan Dowdie is around. The 17-year-old past student of Papine High School is described as the comedian of her household.

So it was no surprise when she told her mother that she wanted a career in acting. Unfortunately, the teen's loved ones may never get a chance to hear her contagious laughter again as she is currently on life support at the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI), after she was beaten by a group of women last Saturday night along Barbican Road.
    Kaylan.jpg
Her mother, Veneisha Buckley, was in tears when THE WEEKEND STAR spoke with her yesterday.

"I am just coming from the hospital and the doctors are telling me that she is not going to make it. Is one per cent chance dem give mi baby to live, just one per cent. The one per cent is just because her eyes are open. My baby cannot breathe on her own at all. The doctors say they can't take her off the machine. They beat my baby and gave her one per cent at life," the distraught mother said.

Buckley said she was told that the fight started at a party that her daughter was attending on Boysie Lane.

THE GIRL BEGAN TO FLARE UP
"I was told that a girl asked her why she was looking at her and my daughter responded by asking her what she take to see her. I heard that the girl began to flare up and an argument ensued. Based on what I heard, the girl or my daughter did not know each other. The girl hit her and while the fight started, another woman came up and hit her with a Hennessy bottle and hit her in the head. All of them, about six of them turned on my daughter and beat her," she said.

Buckley said the women continued to beat Kaylan even when she fell to the ground and also stabbed her in the neck.

"While this was happening, everyone at the party was just standing and enjoying the show. No one came to her assistance. One of her friends was running up and down trying to get help but she was laying on the ground for over an hour as persons were pronouncing her dead," she said.

Buckley said she had just come home from work when she got the spine-chilling news and instantly went to the hospital where she saw Kaylan unconscious.

"These females are heartless, evil and wicked. They are monsters. They are very evil for jumping my child. I can't wish anything good for them and all who stand around and watch the attack. I can't hide my feelings or conscience," she said.

Head of the St Andrew North Police Division, Superintendent Aaron Fletcher, said investigations are currently being carried out.

"What I know is that there was a fight among a total of five females who were in attendance at a party. My information is that the dispute started by the way of a quarrel over a male. They were fighting over man essentially and that would have resulted in two of them being injured and taken to the hospital. One was treated and released and the other, who is the 17-year-old, is admitted in serious condition," he said. Fletcher said no permit was granted for the party.

  6. Sounds a lot like Chicago too for that matter. I believe some news reports say that once about 20 shootings happened in just the span of one weekend during the early days of summer this year.

I agree with ya though. Politics are not to blame for this kinda thing it's bad players who have nothing better to do with their lives than to try and ruin the lives of other people out there because they are so sad, weak and pathetic. Yet they will tell you they are doing nothing wrong from their own point of view. If we get only one chance at life we should try our best to improve our own lives, not ruining that of others by killing a family member of theirs whom they might be highly dependent on for any reason.

  16. That's really sad to read, Dizzy. I didn't know you had been victimized like that, person like you deserves a life with no harm or ails. You know some things about me, but one thing you don't know yet is that the Caribbean is my favorite place on Mother Earth, and I've seen and lived in more corners of our shared home than most people.

As a cab driver on Eleuthera said to me when last I visited: "If you've got problems here, it's your own damn fault."

I was definitely planning on visiting Jamaica eventually. :( Why are things so bad, do you think?

  17. Thank You Viking. Yea Basically I Was Attacked by a Mob of Angry People in Jamaica Because i Was Running With This Dude Who Did Someting Really Bad( I Had No Idea He Waas Going to Do it) Well After He Did He Ditch The Scene an The Crowd Blamed Me Because they Caught Me There an Not Him. Thats what People Like My Mama Told Me Happen but i Still Dont Remember The Beating at All Thankfully but i Gotta Bad Head/Brain Injury From It.

But Anyways I Have No Idea Why it Gotten Worse TBH. Don't Get Me Wrong tho There Still Plenty of Great/Friendly People there who are Awesome an Kind. The Problem is There are Bad Too that Attract the Most Attention Just Like Any Where else. You Could Still Go There tho an Have a Wonderful Times. An Have Fun because The Night Life Over is Alwayss Poppin/Lit. I Will Probably Not Ever Go Back but It Issa Beautiful an Breath Taking Place. Where all You Been to in The Caribbean My Friend?

  18. I'm damned sorry to hear that. Well, from what I gather, you made it work. Of all the people I know on GC, you seem to have one of the nicest lives, and deservedly so. You and your little family. I'm sure there's much I don't know, though.

I've been fortunate enough to visit quite a few places in the Carribean. :) I was pretty active on something called WorkAway in my early twenties, where you would go work - typically on ranches/farms/plantation for someone in exchange for food, lodging, and hanging out with other young adventurers. Bermuda twice (Hamilton), two of the islands in the Bahamas (Eleuthera and Exuma), and Willemsted on Curacao.

I'll still visit your homeland if I get the chance! <3

  20. Prayers to that girl and her family. Im sorry that you also had to endure something similar. I know street violence all too well, being raised in a city nicknamed "murdertown" I have also been subjected to similar instances. I hate to say it, but it's the way of the world anymore. It's sad really.
