That type of harassment can literally destroy a person's life. Once something is on the Internet, it's there forever. It may be true that your teacher is gay, but publishing it for the world to see without their permission has real life consequences that can effect a person's relationships and career. I have no sympathy for any little asshole who spends a night or two in jail for attempting to destroy a person's livelihood.
I had a teacher tell me I am pathetic and will amount to nothing. Not making that shit up, I have a whole class as a witness. Is it too late to press charges?
I support this. As other's have said, publishing personal info about someone else is no joking matter and can have serious consequences for the person involved. I don't see how this is an issue honestly. I'm a firm supporter in free speech, but I just don't see this falling under the guidelines. I mean, bottom line it's slander and deformation of character.
Oh shit, I just gave my professor a bad report on ratemyprofessor.com. AND I live in NC. It was all true though; literally just a synopsis of the class. If you don't hear from me, call the police and tell them to suck my cock.
Whats wrong with suing people for slander/emotional abuse/etc? Why must the government step in to silent peoples free speech. For sure, free speech has its negatives but its one of our core rights as an American and limiting it in any way is a insult to individual rights.
Shit I'd probably sue if I were you. Tort reform is something we desperately need in this country and the only way to go about it seems to be for you to win a ridiculous amount of money for no reason and then give me at least 10% of it. After that's done, America will see why it's legal system is so fucked up, why the courts are so bogged down, and we'll be rich for no reason.
Sophomore year my friend made a "XXXXX Fan Club Page" (the XX's being our chemistry teachers name) on facebook. I was the 'co-owner' or whatever is the next highest rank in a fb page. Anyways, we both got called down to the office. The VP told me I can get into a lot of trouble for being a part of it and that it can be considered harrassment to the teacher yada yada yada. I told him I would sue the school because I did nothing wrong. All i did was click one button to accept the 'title' on the page. I called my parents and left school early. Next day I find out the kid who made it got suspended for 3 days, thursday, friday and monday. I was never called down again. Just thought I'd share. Isnt it great to know that the HS's adminstration is focused on busting two fifteen year olds for making a facebook page?
