Hopefully I can find some help here, googled it but can't find any solutions. A few days I started noticing that everytime I start to play an mp3 song on my itunes there is like a 5 second delay before the song actually starts playing. Has anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it? Thanks in advance
Ya I've noticed that on external drives too, but it's only that initial read that takes time. After that the songs play right away. OP. Does it happen with every song?
Naa i dont have and external drive. But it does it with mp3 files. Each time i click play on a new song it has the delay. Also when I change any information like the song name or artist or whatever, after i finish editing the info and press enter the delay happens then. Making me so mad, I can't figure out what caused it, i didnt change anything and then just one day the delay started. Thanks for helping out, cant wait to get it fixed.
Tried playing songs on windows media player and im experiencing the same delay. So it must be something with my computer not itunes..
Odd. Do you notice slowdowns when opening up non-music files? You could try defragmenting your hard drive.
mP3 tags which your player use and the music themselves are stored seperatley on your hard drive. I know in iTunes tag info is kept in a (.data?) file in the program directory whereas mp3 is stored in your music folder. To play the songs the hard disk must align those two before playing so defragmenting your drive should fix this problem relatively easy.
