It sucks having parents that don't make that much money.....

  1. you could always get student loans and be in debt for the rest of your life.

  2. ^^ pell grants, award money for school based on income (including your parents until you are 25). its a pain to file, sounds to me like OP came here complaining without putting out the slightest effort to explore options

**edit** money you never have to pay back

  3. But OP is complaining about now. You seem very determined to stick to a pessimistic view of the situation despite testimonies that contradict your stand point. No offense.

  4. I'm not even talking about the OP. The situation in America is pessimistic.

  5. As soon as I got out of high school, I made sure I was less dependent of my parents.

They where broke too, but I still wanted to build my own wealth.

  6. I disagree. I could take the time to try and convince you why America isn't going to go to shit, but my shift starts at two.

  7. idk where the fuck you live

but its pretty hard to find a job righ now anywhere

I am fortunate enough to have my father who owns a restaurant

  8. get s 4.5 gpa in highschool, community service, sports .

  9. You gotta work with what you're given. Be thankful you are at least going to college. My friend who is living with me right now has to go to the school and try to find a way to get some financial aid cuz though she has a job it is NOT enough to pay for classes and books, and then to pay for her own bills as well, all while trying to save up to move out on her own (that's why she's staying with me for a bit.) Absolutely 0 support from her parents and family.

Try to get some financial aid or a loan or some scholarships if it really bothers you but don't blame your parents.

  10. Be thankful for what you do have, not what you don't have :smoke:

yeaah but you're parents have to make under a certain amount.. if theyre above that bracket at all, then you're just on your own to pay for it unless you earned yourself a scholarship.

also, i thought id point this out... how much bullshit is this?!? fucking retarded with the current hole were in already. schools here are already suffering, let's just give out more money that we don't have... to people who are BREAKING THE LAW.

    What. The. Fuck.

    fuck jerry brown.

California "Dream Act" approved for illegal immigrants - Yahoo! News

give scholarships out to the US Citizens first... then when we have an overflowing amount of money, we can share it with those less fortunate. where's the logic in this? theres tons of kids in California who need scholarships, but were handing it out to people who shouldnt be here in the first place instead. so fucked.

  12. Be thankful you can go to college, I got arrested at 17 and in TX that means your an adult and since I have this charge on my record and served time ( got caught with a 1/4, served 3 months) I can't get financial aid, or student loans which means I have to pay for it or my parents do, I'm not able to get scholarships and grants cause of my record. I graduated salutatorian, and I can't even attend college? Wtf is that shit? the united states is fucked up. If you get convicted you have no chance to better your life cause of all the restrictions. So that's why my sole purpose in life is to grow so much weed and flood the market with so much green that they can't ignore it anymore. Fuck the US this place is bs, can't wait to leave..

Yeah both my parents are educated and won't let me go to a community college, it's either a university or design school to work in the family business (interior design)....

  13. Look in to FAFSA, or the Government Board Waiver Fee. Not sure if its different by state. I am going to back to school this fall, thanks to the waiver fee. You have to be a low income dependent, or parents have to be low income. I wish I knew more when I was 18, I would have stayed in school. Now I am going back, and all of my classes are waitlisted.

  14. a job? loans? like the other guy said CC is cheap as fuck..

  15. Fuck college, trades are where it's at. If I ever get my damn license back (I should have it right now but got fucked) I'm going to get an apprenticeship with the Electricians Union, and get PAID 2000$ a month to go to school, that's enough to support myself and then in like 4-6 years be making 60-80,000$ a year as a journeyman, let alone what I'll be making after I'm not "a rookie" anymore.

It sucks they only open the doors once a year, so that means waiting until like 2013 to get that ball rolling.

  16. Obama is a republican, according to your post.

  17. I never understood this concept, my parents said they would pay the deposit/first/last month just so i could get my savings built up and not get evicted, but i don't want to completely mooch off them. That pretty much defeats the purpose of moving out!

  18. I live with just my mom and still can somewhat afford to go to college. A state university for that matter.

It's possible and very very doable.

You have to find that free money. Maybe some outside family help? That's what I do.

Man, a lot of people are in the same boat, including myself. My mom makes decent money (nurse practitioner) but my dad's business has fallen apart in this economy, so things aren't too good. My brothers, my sister and I are pretty independent for the most part, and it's because of them. I think all those kids that have mom and dad pay for everything, and carry them through life never learn the proper discipline, and never understand the value of a dollar, and when they do finally have to go out on their own, they can't handle it. Be happy that you're doing things this way. Take this and learn from it, become successful, and years from now you'll look back and say "I did this on my own". I just moved out and moved across country to the crazy, hardcore expensive city of Los Angeles...and financially I did it 100% on my own, by working a near minimum wage job 40 hours a week. And it feels good.

Obamas a socialist only concerned with handing out "free money" at the expense of the taxpayers. When the "free money" adds up to being not-so-free, he taxes more. People on welfare here have cell phones and cable and food in their fridge. Where the fuck is my cable? I work 2 jobs damnit!
