Alrighty guys and gals; Seeds arrived sooner than expected from The Attitude, 5 days! WOW. I have yet to receive my soil from Amazon. Went with Roots Organics Potting Soil and the 5ML Master Pack. bought 2 of them. Master Pack: Roots Organics - Player & Master Packs What do you guys think of this?? Also, going with Superoots Air Pots from Calgrowers, 3.4gal: Air-Pot 3.4 gal first time grower and im using my closet space (25 square feet). went with a 600 watt digital ballast: Metal Halide for Vegetating and HPS for flowering. thinking of buying another Grow Light Set to go both MH and HPS for both Vegetating and Flowering. 1200 watts total. Want to start off with 3 seeds then go with some Clones after the Veg. 6-7 plants in total. (not very likely, i know.) So my question is: What would be the best way to germinate my babies?? Since im growing in organic soil, should i just germinate them on the soil to avoid any stress during transplanting? or the moist paper towel method? Any other methods? Also, should i use some CFL's to start off the growth, or go balls deep with my HID off the back? any good advice from soil growers will be greatly appreciated. Going to set up my closet with mylar and white plastic for floor. will post pics up soon. very excited. Thanx in advance for all replies. Sincerely: SAMMY
I am on my first grow as well. I had success germinating using the paper towel method. I had a sprout the next day. I have my seedling on 24 hour lights right now with 3 cfls. I just transplanted from solo cup to 3.4 gal air pot yesterday so I'm a little nervous hoping that she doesn't go into shock. I too am wondering when I should change the lighting over. I think I won't until it's grown it's 3rd or 4th true set of leaves as I learned yesterday this is when the seedling actually is entering the vegetative stage of growth.
Wow. Congrats on your little baby. you said airpots eh? which kind did you buy? i was looking in to the calgrowers superoots, but they are a bit expensive, but i hear that fabric pots are just as good. Awesome, i was planning on germinating with the paper towel method. I hear a lot of good things about it. AND using cfl's at first. So im glad it's working for you. Im trying to figure out my ventilation situation right now. So once i have this figured out, i shall begin with germination. Good luck; keep me posted. Also, where are you growing? closet? Tent? Room? Specifications?
I bought 2 of the superoots air pots 3.4 gal which were visibly larger than the regular 3 gal pots that I already had. For the 2 pots I paid $25 with shipping which I feel isn't bad considering the greater yield that you supposedly get by using these pots. The smart pots although the same idea with a cheaper had some negatives that I didn't want to deal with considering my grow setup. The ease of use with these air pots are perfect for me. I have a small AgroMax grow tent with a 400 watt hps light, exhaust at the top of the tent etc with all the bells and whistles from htgsupply.com. I like it a lot!
This is a pic of my girl in the superoots air pot right before the transplant and 30 hours later. She looks to have bounced back good! 30 hours later Right Before
WOW! She looks amazing! did you buy feminized seeds? Also, what strain? INDICA? SATIVA? What soil and nutrients are and will be using? Sorry if i ask a lot of question. I'm a bit nervous yet excited about getting started. I'm planning on going with Roots Organics from Aurora Innovation as well as with their Nutrients. I've decided to use their 5ML Master Pack Feeding Schedule. Check them out @ Aurora Innovations Eugene, Oregon So you're using 3 cfl's huh? sounds about right. Im going to do the same, but then transfer to Metal Halide and High Pressure Sodium. thanks for the PICS. I wanna get started asap, but need to figure out my Ventilation first. Thanks. Sammy
Thanks... She is a dinafem blue widow indica dominant strain. As a noob I was sucked in by Fox Farm so I am using the ocean forest soil, as well as the trio of nutrients. I purchased some other nutes made by fox farm to use during flowering. I think next week I am going to turn the hps light on top of the blue spectrum cfl's! Should be an interesting couple of weeks!!!
