us young people go to college for 4 years, putting down around $100,000 and the result is massive student loans. the system is flawed. 53.6% of college graduates from 2011 are under or unemployed. college is NOT the answer. do what it takes to become successful, you dont need college. on top of that, 77% of americans do NOT like their job. this economy is crazy. people live paycheck to paycheck worrying their whole life about money. why not do WHATEVER IT TAKES to make a lot of money. go for it!!!
1st of all ur awesome because u like deadmau5. 3rd of all, me personally, i was lucky enough to get into a cuny school( ny'ers get a major discount as compared to out of state kids) where i paid 25k over the 4 years, and got a finance degree. Times are def rough right now, in that im making money, but not using my fin degree. I'm trying to wait out this economy, and then hopefully get into my completed field. The struggle is real
I'm interested in hearing what kind of jobs you think the larger part of the population should get with no higher education.
I agree completely. Both of my parents received multiple degrees in post secondary and in the late years of their life, both are working jobs in the same pay grade as I am. Granted with their degrees they are able to pursue careers I cannot, if they aren't getting those positions what is the point? The only reason I'm thinking about post secondary education is because I can be paid by the government to flirt with girls my age and chill in class.
Not even gonna lie. Thats why I'm looking forward to getting my masters...aside from a bigger job opportunity..of course
...because I don't want to be some dudes bitch working in artificial lighting all day. 2nd of all, The false notion that schooling is what makes a great worker is completely false. What makes a great worker is what I call going into "beast mode" whether that be mentally or physically focused.
Agreed OP. I'm so jealous of all these rich, privileged fucks having mommy and daddy pay for all their schooling, etc. Get a job and go fuck yourself. Half these kids haven't worked a day in their life yet they're driving vehicles from 2012 that they got as a fucking birthday present. I don't have a hope in hell of going back to school this year because I spent all my money on my vehicle... so next year it is, after working for yet another year. I hope these fucking kids finish their schooling and no one ends up hiring them. Still kissing mom and dads ass at age 20 for a new wardrobe.. faggots.
Ahahahahahahahaha! Higher education + ruthless ambition = big $ + unlimited opportunity. Envy + lack of ambition = hind tit Make your choice Skippy.
You don't even have to go into a job that's relevant to your degree. A lot of places just want you to have ANY degree. The jobs you'll find without one will be really shitty. Plus, most universities are teaming with opportunities for jobs and internships. Plenty of stuff to make it work the way it's intended. Obviously not a guarantee, but it's nowhere near as ruthless as you make it sound.
on average an adult with a college edu makes 1,000,000 more in a lifetime. sounds like a fair trade. especially since, i think, that number will go up as the demand for educated employees goes up
find me someone without a degree that can run a fortune 500 company. idgaf if they DO go "Beast Mode" not going to happen
What makes you think the demand for educated employees will increase when the market is already flooded with unemployed college educated job searchers? Outside of the medical field I don't see much room for growth, unless you're including trade school graduates in your definition of "educated employees."
on average an adult with a college edu makes 1,000,000 more in a lifetime. sounds like a fair trade. especially since, i think, that number will go up as the demand for educated employees goes up
I would agree with this. My work is paying for my school and once finished I will receive 6% pay raise. That's going to be about an extra 12k a year for me doing the same work I have been doing the whole time just because I finished school. Sounds worth it to me while the guy next to me is making the same amount because he is to lazy to finish. This is how most real companies work. You get rewarded for what you have completed. Yes the job market sucks now and it hard to get a job it will pay off
My grampa never graduated college and is rich as hell. My parents went to college and are poor as fuck. Life is weird.
the fact that there are 3,000,000 unfilled jobs waiting to be filled by someone with the proper qualifications. and as the world changes and fields develop more people are needed to run the new world. for example machines are being brought in to paint a car, a job a person used to do. now there is a closed job for an uneductated man, and an opening for someone with a degree in computer sciences.
Yeah, I'm waiting it out. I'm sure as hell not paying thousands of dollars right now when I have no idea which direction to take. College makes it tough because it's so time consuming. And how are you supposed to support yourself while IN college? Part-time job with minimal hours? I'm gonna continue working until I figure out what I'd like to go to school for.
Why wouldn't he? And as far as the trades go.... i'd say 75% of my building trades buddies have jobs in their field. Whereas the rest of my friends... don't. None of them. Not one. Well, wait, i guess i have one friend that drafts, but that was after 3 years of under/unemployment. And his contract is only 6 months.
Somehow I find those statistics highly doubtful. Source? And when workers are replaced by technology, it generally takes fewer workers to operate the technology than the technology replaced. That's the point. Because his post was a response isssued to a thread about traditional 4 year degrees.
