  1. hi all , I have recently moved into my new house and it has a splendid attic space... ive already started to measure the space up and lay down the Fire resistant mylar etc.. but im very concerned about Heat and Thermal imaging ! , watched lots of DVDs on the subject but im thinking ill just use a 250watt lamp instead of my current 600watt ?,, do you guys think this would be a good way of keeping the heat down enough to stop detection ?.... Also im using a 4pot Wilma system with a 5" extractor which will pump Some of the heat down into the house and around the attic space... thanks !:D

  2. what's up mack? you know and i know that you are not going to be satisfied going down to a 250 after using a 600 watt bulb. before you sacrifice yield and quality you should check out some of the new materials they have for insulating growrooms now. they are designed especially for that reason and work really well. you can look at one at growersproducts.com it will be under this material called poly shield. good luck with everything else. i sure wish i could use the attic for my grow!! or a room.. you could also tap into the home's venting system up there and use it to vent heat outisde, but make sure you are going to use a carbon filter in-line so as to not smell the entire block up with sweet herb aroma.

  3. yeah, heat issues are common problems with attic grows. good luck with that man, you may have to put a little air conditioner up there. make sure not to let condensation from air conditioner drip outside, dogs can hit it. you can use your 600 during hours when the sun is out. their thermal detecting equipment is useless during daylight hours.

  4. Depending how far north you live your problem won't be heat detection, it will be heat suffocation. Attics look like real nice grow spaces but they trap heat like a greenhouse. I tried in my attic and gave up because the attic was typically 10-20 degrees warmer than outside and the grow cab I had up there was another 10-15 degrees warmer than the attic. So even on a mild day in the upper 70s outside it was over 100 inside my cab. And that was with a 250w, BTW, just turn the rotisserie up higher when you use a 600w.

As Smoking Joe said you may need insulation and an air conditioner to make that space work.
