I'd say this is an improvement over the situation a few decades ago where Israel and Egypt literally went to war. People give Israel a hard time about "warmongering" or whatever, but they did return the Sinai peninsula to Egypt after they captured it from them. I somehow doubt that Egypt would have done the same if they managed to occupy Israeli territory.
