Isopropyl -- Truley a stoner's friend

  1. This is the official hats off to isopropyl alcohol thread. I was just thinking as I was scraping the resin out of my pipe before giving it an iso/salt wash how much this chemical helps us stoners.

What are some of your uses for isopropyl? I myself use it to clean my pieces, and to make QWISO hash.

  2. Only thing that gets hash sprinkles off my counter :)

Qwiso is gross imo, but boy does ethanol clean fatty resins well.

I'm faced with a new monster though, hard water/calcium deposits in my bong. I tried soaking it in vinegar but it didnt work as well as i'd hoped. Any suggestions?

Or the resin off my blade.

And, it's just another extraction method.
P.S. You haven't seen MY QWISO.

  4. 91% Iso doesn't help it? :p

  5. I wish, but ethanol does nothing at all to these deposits.

Its my fault for using tap water, which I know well is full of hard minerals.

Either I need a strong enough solvent to soak it out or a long brush to scrape it. I have neither.

  6. L.A.'s Totally Awesome

Soak it over night and it will look like the day you bought it.

  7. It's a little pricey, but Grunge Off I think would help with that.

Stuff is an awesome cleaner anyway, so well worth the money.

  8. Ouch, I say give it an overnight wash with Iso (or your preferred cleaning agent) and a little dish wash soap and shake it up real good and stay away from tap water from now on. Always use bottled.

  9. Go out and grab some Cascade, it's like dish detergent. Every month i do a deep clean on all my pieces and after the regular iso wash, i do a wash with cascade, let it soak for like 10 minutes, then rinse with iso and finally water. Gets the hard water stains off every time:bongin:

  10. You could try using CLR. Always worked wonders for the hard water stains, now I just use bottled water though.

  11. Yeah but be sure to wash that shit all out. I wouldn't wanna inhale any CLR fumes.
