Isopropyl Alochol.

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by Piller, Mar 30, 2010.

  1. Is this the stuff you use to clean pipes, get resin out, and wash out old bags that have kief in them? Answers appreciated.

  2. I use it to clean my bubbler and it works great

  3. i use 90% alcohol with salt. the salt acts as an embrasent and is really good at getting those hard to reach places with a shit ton of resin.

  4. Yes Isopropyl alcohol is used to clean bowls and pipes. I use it to clean my pipes as well. What i do is put my bowl instead a small sandwich bag and fill the bag with the alcohol and salt. Shake the bag a lot and let the bowl sit in the bag overnight or for atleast 4 hours. Then when you take your bowl out the resin will be easy to take out. But if your looking to collect the resin then this method is not for you.

  5. yeah, you can make hash with it too.

  6. Okay, fuck resin. But it is to clean correct? And you can throw it in keifed up things to collect the kief? DO i just wash out whatever has kief in it and let it evaporate? I know this is probably a very simple thing but...like...i dotn understand what happens after the iso evaporates...does the kief just get left?

  7. I use 91% isopropyl alcohol with a little bit of epsom salts to clean my bong.
Makes it look brand spanking new.
Iso has its other uses as well, like hash.

  8. Okay thank you, i get confused on simplest things sometimes lol. How do you go about making hash?

  9. What does the salt do again?

  10. My guess would be is its rough and can rub out (no pun inteneded? or... does it not sound wrong at all?) the harder dirt/resin.

  11. Theres so much resin in my pipe...within 30 seconds the alcohol turned black. It needed this cleaning apparently lol. And after im done cleaning it should i rinse it with water thoroughly?

  12. Yes rinse it with water thouroughly after you clean it with alcohol

  13. Okay thank you! Also since it turned black almost isntantly... should i drain out the alcohol and put new alcohol in? Or will it continue to remove the resin? Stupid questions i know but just making sure! Thanks!

  14. this man speaks truuf!
i cleaned my bubbler with that and it was amazing how well it worked:p

  15. I have had some bad experiences when using alcohol to clean glass-pieces. Years ago I had two different pieces break shortly after cleaning with alcohol. Even though it seemed completely illogical to me that alcohol could weaken glass, I quit using it to clean anything but metal. After several years I broke down and tried it again. I cleaned a piece that was a gift from my girlfriend. It was thick, sturdy, in good shape and had no reason whatsoever to possibly break. I got it perfectly clean and it was beautiful. A couple days later (the first time using it after the cleaning) we packed one up, burnt it out, and tapped the base with a plastic lighter to get the ash out. Sure enough, it broke clean in half. I had used this piece regularly before that and it had no visible imperfections or anything else that might obviously lead to breakage. Since that, I've completely sworn off using alcohol on anything but metal. Anyone else have a similar experience?

  16. no ciliatus, were you boiling the pipe too? alcohol wont weaken the glass.. think about it.... alcohol is stored in GLASS containers.

also, OP, i usually just cover my piece in iso and then let it sit for like an hour, come back with a pipe cleaner and rinse it all out and scrub it real good with the pipe cleaner, then dry it off and let it air dry a bit, and good as new

  17. I hear ya', Dumped. No, I wasn't boiling, just soaking in normal, room temp alcohol. I agree with the logic, it makes no sense that alcohol should weaken glass but this has happened to me multiple times. Guess I've just had bad luck.
