Hi All , My plant is just over 3 weeks into flowering. im a first time grower. Its a white widow and its quiet big , about 5 feet tall . i have a 150 watt hps light and it doesnt get to the lower half properly. i can tell that the top half of the plants, the buds will be bigger and probably ready sooner, is it possible to cut my plant half way up the main stem so that i can harvest the top half of the plant and this will allow me move the bottom half of the plant back up closer to the light so im hopeing the lower down buds will get bigger and mature then or will this just put the plant into shock and mess it up. I only have the one growing area so i dont have the luxuary of growing clones and want to make the most of this plant . Also any thoughts on ppl that have regerenerated plants before ?
erm no... the best thing to do is concentrate the plants enery into the top of ur plant by removin the schwaggy bottom imo anyone else
Your prob is you have to much plant for your light, If space allows spread your branches out and tie down the top(look up lst if you don't know what I mean) this will force the lower/inner branches to grow up to meet your top. With a 150 hps you should always do lst to keep the height minimized and the amount of light to product maximized. My personal goal is to keep my plants canope around 48"(as measure from the top of the container to the highest point in the canopy) and I'm running 2-400 HPS. Also, you can in the last couple of weeks remove some of the upper leaves to allow the light to penatrait farther.
cheers for the advice . i think i will try lst next time, ive got plenty of space . i probably should have gotten a bigger light but i'll probably get a higher wattage one sometime in the future
Good Idea, hey you know its not to late to get that light for this grow(order one on ebay and you'll have it by tuesday or wednesday at the latest in the USA and you can still do the lst, it will put more growth in all your grow tips.
all this advise is good advise. but to answer your question you can "top" the plants when the colas are ripe and then move the light down on to the lower canopy, giving those smaller buds time/light to mature. another option if you don't want to/can't/don't have room to clone is to harvest 90% of the buds and leave some of the pre-mature buds on it, then change your light schedule back to 18/6 to "re-veg" it. this way it'll produce more branches and bud sites so you can harvest the same plant two or three times.
sweet , i never pruned the plant before so all i have is one main stem and when the time comes i will cut it in half and raise the rest of the plant up closer to the light. This is my first grow, looks kinda sweet and pretty i think . i'll stick a coupla pics up tomorrow
I agree with chimera and istandalone.. you should definately train your plant so that you can get light to all of the plant.. and bigger light would help lots.
