Is throat inflammation/irritation normal for regular smokers?

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by LonelyStonerx, Mar 16, 2016.

  1. I've been smoking every day for a few years, and I've always had a problem where my throat gets irritated after I smoke and it gets me paranoid. It doesn't really hurt that bad, but it aches from below my jaw down to my adam's apple. It's not a scratchy pain but a dull ache. That wouldn't bother me much but I also have a scraping/clicking sensation when I swallow, mainly after I've smoked. I'm a really skinny guy and I've read that this is a normal problem, especially in people with anxiety. I can do things like bend my neck backwards, and if I swallow then it will feel normal, so I know I'm not imagining it. These symptoms seem to be worse after I smoke but I also notice them before I smoke too, but not all the time. I'm thinking that maybe the smoke irritates my already narrow throat so it causes me to feel my epiglottis scratching the sides of my throat or something. I haven't went to the doctor about this or anything because it's not something urgent that's really painful or anything, it's just irritating and my mind wonders into all directions when I'm stoned like maybe I have a cancerous tumor growing or something. Is this something other people experience after smoking?

  3. When I first started smoking, it used to leave me coughing after every hit, and THAT was what made my throat feel like hell. Once I found out how to hit the bowl without coughing (I really don't know what happened, it just stopped) it was smooth sailing. Do you cough after you toke? You may want to try keeping your cherry a little smaller and "sipping" your smoke, then follow each hit with a bit of water (after you've exhaled).

  4. Invest in a herb vaporizer

  5. Once I was smoking and coughed so hard, my tonsils swelled up and I think ended up a little infected.

I gargled with warm salt water and apple cider vinegar in the morning and in two days I was back to normal.

But if it persist after that I would just get a vape or use edibles.
