Is this White Widow ready for harvest?

  1. yeah sorry I'm Chinese this morning from too much thc...and I'm trying to do a Lotta things at once ...when I got back to the post I forgot that detail but reducing the size will speed up the drying ..then it's easier to smoke and see the ash...but not recommended in any way to reduce size and speed up everything...that's actually bad...but I'd rather sacrifice a tiny nug like that to see I'm good OR not than cut it only to see its not...lol...sorry...do post pics of finger Hash...

  2. Harvest windows vary. A breeders time estimate off of the internet is going to give you a ballpark time in which the plants will be "ready" for harvest. Personal preference of the grower is what really plays a part in when the plant is harvested. Some people chop when almost all trichomes are cloudy, some people prefer a mix of amber, some people prefer a couchlock high with some extra amber. Some even say plants grow faster in DWC set ups, most breeders don't even state what style of growing their estimate goes along with. A harvest window can be open for a couple weeks, in which case 2 different growers will chop 2 same strain plants at 2 different times based on their own personal preference. Doesn't mean either person is right or wrong.

  3. agreedthis is all true....but I always thought that the breeders don't specify how they grew it and only how long because we'll it would be the same...now taking into account "preference" of the grower in relation to the trichomes and the high...then really there is no wrong or right as this falls into personal opinion.. I'm speaking from a commercial dealers standpoint which takes into account only 2 things really ....the time ...and the final dried weight....if the weight isn't going to go up at all...and even may go down if super overdone...then the company would lose time...which turns directly into cash... so i guess what I'm. saying is ...from a commercial dealers view..."extra flowering" is extra time and no added cash....maybe only added look maybe even flavor maybe...but that won't make the price go up...it'll just make your customer happier....which is good ....but...doesn't make the company more money...you dig?

    good luck and good grows

  4. Also 3 weeks of flushing with an organic grow is a bit much, even with organics you don't really need to flush I find. I grow organically and I flushed and didn't flush and had the same results with the same strain at the same time.

  5. Breeders hardly ever specify how they do things and a premature plant is a huge loss of money, especially from a commercial standpoint . As most plants do their final bulge during the last 2 weeks. So if we're talking 100 plants say each one lost out on 10 grams due to being picked too early on the breeders guideline that's 1000 grams that never had the chance to show. But even so clearly op isn't growing commercially, so this situation basically is nothing but personal opinion.

  8. Harvest results and pics
I cut down my plant that day, as I said I would. Sadly no scissor hash, cause I only cut the fan leaves when drying. But yesterday, I trimmed the smaller leaves and jarred the buds (they felt dry enough). And my reward for the job:

Yes, not a lot, I know. But I shared it with my girlfriend, and it did produce a mild, pleasant effect.

Yesterday, most of the hanging buds were dry (generally, the buds at the end of the branches felt a bit too dry, and the buds at the base felt a bit too moist, so I figured they'd even each other out in the jar), but some buds were still soggy, so I let them hang for a bit more (I increased ventilation and jarred them yesterday evening).

I got about 50 grams from this plant. The smaller jar are the ones that I left hanging for a bit (and it's also gonna be my sample-jar:love-m3j:).

This is one of the biggest buds from the harvest. I've seen pictures of bigger ones, definitely, but I'm proud of this size. I think it's my best result so far, and I hope that notion will be verified when I smoke it!

I've learned one VERY important lesson during this grow: DON'T HARVEST TOO EARLY! Originally I had two White Widows in the tent, but the other one I cut down weeks ago, cause I thought it was ready (it had mostly brown pistils). The early harvested plant doesn't provide a strong effect, that you'd expect from a White Widow. Also, the smallest, crappiest buds from the late harvested plant are about the same size as the biggest, most lustrous buds from the early harvested plant. So if I think it's ready for harvest, that probably means it has at least 2 weeks left, where it's gonna mature and double in size!

  9. They won't double in size in the last two weeks.Given they never stalled out during the grow , and looking at the pics. I'd say you were less than a week away from seeing the amber tricks show up. Nice work Dude Do post the bud porn.

  10. Ok, maybe not doubling in size. But they'll definitely swell in size. I can't rule out that the late harvested plant had bigger buds overall than the other plant, but definitely not that much bigger.
And thanks, I'll snap some pics when I have time :)

  12. Have 3 white widows day 53 , just started flushing . all 3 are at going to be harvested at different times due to stalls in growth during flower . So I'm just starting to see amber on one of the girls now, about 5%( I find it difficult to take a picture of the view in the loupe) and one 50/50 white and clear ,and the other one is mostly clear trichrome . Now they differ from top , middle and the bottom of the plant for variation . I'd say around day 60 I'll chop em . This looks good!
