Is this true about my workouts?

    Always, always, always use free weights if you want the best results. Using resistance wire machines are okay but will only get you so far. You'll never get the same level of intensity from wires as you will from actually lifting iron. If you don't believe me, try lifting 40kg on a chest press machine, and then try doing a 40kg bench press. I guarantee you that the bench press will work you harder. There's a reason you don't see bodybuilders/powerlifters using (many) machines.
     
    Regarding supplements, your friends are kinda right, kinda wrong. Get yourself a good whey protein and maybe some creatine, and that should be all you need. Protein shakes are essential if you're working out (unless you already have your diet sorted)
     
    Plus, going to the gym and lifting weights with the guys is always a good feeling. Get your pump on man!
