Hi, I was just wondering.. I just started this plant about 3 days ago using two 23 watt CFL's.. One leaf is a little droppy as hopefully you can see. is this a problem or is it normal? the middle of the plant seems healthy along with the two leaves. Help would be much appreciated as I am new to the growing culture! btw this is bag seed lol, I'm planning on growing 4 more of these babies once there done germinating. Also I have a few questions: When will I need to add nutrients? , is an exhaust fan really necessary or is a regular fan fine? And how many 23watt CFL's will I need to grow 4 plants?... I'm guessing 4? but im not sure :(

  2. it is fine. The round leafs are cotyledons. They are there to help break the seed husk, and gather max sunlight for the tiny seedling. Eventually they will yellow and die. Good Luck

  3. Thanks buddy!!

  4. YW...BTW chill out man...remember it is a plant that wants to grow. No need to freak on every little issue. If you read through the newbie threads you will see that nothing has harmed or killed mpre plants than over zealous parents loving them too death.

What medium is that you are using?

  5. that medium looks very compact, it needed perlite for drainage and aeration. make sure you have sufficient drainage and do not over water. you shouldnt need to use ferts for the first two weeks of the plants life, after that i cant really tell since i dont know your grow medium. I personally use fox farms ocean forest and LW so i dont have to fert at all till flowering other then some molasses.

If its an enclosed area you will need an exhaust fan, otherwise your plants will raise the humidity above 60% and you will get mold, also heat may be an issue without ventilation depending on your lighting. you will also need a fan to circulate air and strengthen the stems, this is pretty vital if you dont have a circulation fan your plants will have weak stems and will tip over at some point.

for lighting you will need 100w for the first plant and atleast 50 additional watts per plant after the first. i am currently running 300w of CFL for 4 plants originally and am doing fine. try to get atleast a few of the bigger 68w cfl's they put out 4800 lumens! atm i am running 12 26w cfl's arranged above and on all sides of my 3 remaining plants, you can do what i did which is make a custom "chandelier" for my lights or perhaps do some LSTing to keep your plants canopy low and use strip outlets with the stacked adapters to make a light rail looking thing.

sorry for the long read i tried to keep it short but once i get coffee in me there is no stopping it :smoking:.

  6. Perfect start for her. Although the soil looks like it could use something to loosen it up. Like perlite. Air flow is soooooo important for healthy roots.
Also don't over water her. Wait till she's dry then water. Water then pick it up and feel the weight every day till she's dry and water according to the weight of the container
One of the biggest mistakes on Gc is overwatering.
