Is This Normal?

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by McSoap, Oct 28, 2012.

  1. Hey GC community, felt like I needed an outside perspective on this..
Well , I'm relatively new to smoking MJ, and ever since i've started i've felt completely different. I ponder how have I lived in my past mentality, it's like i was secluded in a mind barrier. I have become much more creative, outgoing and really developed a humorous personality, even when i'm not high! But the thing that makes me worry is that I think I may be "permabaked", and I'm going through derealization even weeks after not smoking. Is there anyway to get back to "normal"? I've read that there are long term negative affects of smoking marijuana on the brain, and though I have always dismissed these claims as complete bullshit, I think I may never be back to my fully realized , sober mentality ever again.

  2. No worries dude, you are not perma stoned. I've smoked weed for many years and still am quite sharp :smoking:
that feeling can come and go, it does go.

  3. Man i feel exactly the sam, im really glad to know im not the only one, i woke up one day to feel like im not normal and has carried on since, im so scared but il sound like an idiot if i told anyone...:/

  4. I think it could be all in your head, like mind over matter. Know what I mean? Just my 2 cents though.

  5. I asked my dealer and he said the exact same thing, but ive tried to zone back to normal, just isnt working,

  6. maybe the tokes you had opened your mind to its true capacity, and what you're experiencing now is a higher level of understanding yourself

    -really baked

Well, you aren't alone :hello: I feel the same way with telling people about it too, but when I told my friend (whos my dealers bro) he just thought i was stoned like his bro who's never "normal".No one would believe me lol. Hopefully this is just temporary/all in our minds like most people say.

You sound stoned off your ass brah. Haha but maybe you're right.

  9. When I first started smoking, even days after I stopped I would still feel high sometimes. Enjoy it, the more your tolerance builds, or even once its out of your system then you will feel back to normal. You will always probably think a little different, because you have understood what it means to be high now.

  10. If you're prone to going through periods of derealization because of ganj, it may not be for you.

  11. I think you guys don't feel the same, because maybe you aren't used to mind altering states. Once you enter in altered state on any psychedelic (weed is a mild one) you come to see life a bit differently.

I don't think this is a matter of brain chemestry, just a matter of having a completely different perspective.

    Your mind is fine.

  12. Please continue to dismiss what you "read" as the bullshit it was.

Where da fuk is granny to set this guy straight?

  13. Weed just isnt for you.

Come on hemi, I do have a life off the boards! Dishes need to get washed, had to make dinner, even watched some TV tonight, etc! You guys can go to my List and pull stuff off of it just as good as I can! Stop being so dang dependent! :p

McSoap, don't worry so much, hon! :D I collect medical studies and articles about marijuana. I'm going to give you some reading that should ease your mind.

Alcohol is far worse for your mental abilities than cannabis. In fact, cannabis seems to protect the brain from alcohol damage!

Differences in mental functioning are described as "subtle"- in other words hard to find even when they are looking for them!

Sticking to just cannabis has some benefits-

And cannabis has been recommended for several types of mental disorders-

You may be one of those folks who do best with a touch of CBD in their cannabis. It balances out the THC effects. CBD is not going to get you high, it gets you calm! It zaps social anxiety and has been used as an anti-psychotic. Unfortunately most "smoking" marijuana has little CBD in it.

And remember that cannabinoid metabolites (which have little to no psychotrophic effects) do stay in your system for about a month, but by the end time they are usually at near undetectable levels. So by the end of a month all of its effects should be done, too.

Sweetie, I have used cannabis since the 1960s. I work in education. My co-workers respect me (although they have no idea I use cannabis). I am very creative and artistic. I read more medical studies than most doctors! Most folks seem to think I "have it together" and give good advice. Been married to the same dude for over 40 years. My kids have a good relationship with me. I am an activist and I occasionally write news articles. And I do it all stoned! I smoke every day, several times a day! :smoking:

Now click that first link in my sig and browse your way through my little GC List! Cannabis is MUCH more than "just" a way to get high!

    Granny

  15. Set this guy straight? Sir, there are multiple threads full of people experiencing derealization first hand; Myself including. it is well known Cannabis causes this and to say other wise is blatant ignorance.

  16. Listen to Granny, it sounds like she knows her shit.

  17. I also thought I was the only one. I'm quite scared also. But it's been at least 6 months since this first started. Now I'm just use to it. I really want it to go away but I think it's not..

  18. I thought that was happening to me but then kept smoking and built a tolerance, either It went away or i got used to it as being 'normal' idk im pretty sure it was just me being a dumb noob trippin about being "permafried" cuz i still get great grades and now when i have a slow moment i dont blame weed for it i think that kinda shit happens, and would still happen if i didnt toke anyway. idk just my 2 cents

  19. Call it ignorance then. I don't mind.
But Cannabinoids belong in everyones system. Regardless if you use them for psychoactive properties.

What you call "derealization" I'll call softening up of that calcified pineal gland.
