Is this leaf septoria or a deficiency/burn?

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by DrZero, Dec 23, 2018.

  1. Hi fellow horticulture enthusiasts,

I've just hit week 4 of flower and have had a couple of issues that I'm trying to troubleshoot before it gets any worse.

    Setup:

3 QB 288 LED lights (~350 total watts)
    4x2 tent
    3 - 5 gal dwc buckets
950 gal/hr air pump with a single 2 inch air stone in each bucket
    400 CFM exhaust fan

    AN Sensi Bloom/Grow nutes
    Supplemental cal/mag

Keeping ppm around 1200 with a pH of 5.5

Water temperature around 68°F and tent temp stays around the same. Humidity around 80%.

    Growing 3 diesel plants.

    Problem:

I started noticing that lower leaves were getting some weird brown large splotches and kind of wilting off. At first the tips were very wet/heavy feeling. Had a few lower leaves just drop off plant due to this. This started happening around the same time I noticed a big upswing in my fungus gnat population. I very recently treated the buckets with Bti in the form of mosquito bits and have a noticeable decrease in gnats. Maybe just a few left after 2 days, so I think the bacteria is doing its job well.

But noticing some of the brown spot issues are getting worse (at least in my mind) and I'm not sure if it's residual effects from the infestation or if I need to be looking at something else. For the most part localized to the lowest fan leaves, but noticed some brown spots on a few of the upper leaves on one plant.

I would really appreciate any feedback. For the most part the plants look great, but being so close to the end of the grow I would hate to fuck it up now.

  4. Totally normal for the bottom leaves to die off especially in the 4th week of flower. This is when the plant is switching all of its gears into full bloom and it is cannibalizing whatever leaves it doesnt need. It will continue to do this until harvest. It is better to let the leaves die and fall on their own instead of clipping because they are food to the plant. Honestly I would say it could have used some defoliation in the 2nd week of flower to open it up a bit but it's a bit late now, just let the plant decide what it doesnt need... I wouldn't do a mass defoliation this late into flower.

Beautiful plant, good job! Keep it up and you'll get some nice nugs for sure!

  5. FYI. Unless u turned ur 3 288 down it’d be 405w. 135 each. Mine started doing that 3-4 weeks into flowering.

  6. Nice healthy plants.
A few dead leaves are totally normal, as with any plant or tree.

  7. I was wondering if it was normal. But I don’t see it on “real growers” plants like that. Would an increase in nutes help prevent it?

  8. I say real bc I’m only in second grow

  9. Do whatever you've been doing.
Weed is an annual it's going to die after it flowers.
Your plant is slowly dying. Which is totally normal.
Leaves will continue to yellow and die off.
    You're growing buds, not leaves.

    Your grow looks exceptional..

  10. Increasing nutes this late into flower would be bad.. you should be starting to decrease for your flush in another 2 weeks. And at this point in flower they can be pretty picky and an increase of nutes can cause a bad harvest affecting toxicity. Just keep doing what you're doing, they really are looking good!

  11. Well you're growing and doing it well so I would consider you a real grower.. especially if your second grow is going so well.

  12. Thanks! First grow, so I'm trying not to be so reactionary to everything that I see. Appreciate the positive feedback.

  15. That's what makes a good grower.. dont ignore and neglect stuff no matter how little and always learn.. but after time you'll know what is normal and ok to just let happen.

Welcome to GC, see you around!

  16. I really do appreciate the feedback. It's nice to have some validation, especially since it's my first grow. Many hours of research were spent before I started, but I can't learn everything from books and web articles/forums. Greatful that this community exists and people like yourself take the time to respond. Thanks again!

  17. And it shows in your plants.
There's plenty of green on those leaves to carry you through till harvest.. Go easy on the nutes and you'll have some tasty buds.

Don't be alarmed when more and more leaves start getting ugly and dying off.. It just shows that you fed them properly

Gongrats on the grow and merry Christmas.

I have a question about nutes. I’m in soil. Everyone says flushed 1.5-2w b4 harvest. If u look at fox farm feeding schedule it says feed full strength once a week up until harvest..... here are some of my pics. The 5 furthest along are first day of week 9 today. But I started getting the brown spots, yellowing, and the brown on tips that look wet early in flower. It was worse I snip leaves as they get bad 37DDBB5D-7744-472E-BB64-47D66C89D1A2.jpeg 417D2CA4-B8B4-49D8-BA52-37A29861BEF0.jpeg E68BB67F-7205-4B60-B54D-A82EE13BBB8A.jpeg
