hey GC, this is my first post here and I'm new to growing I've decided to use t5 and I saw this one for a real good price compared to others and it has 20000 lumens. has anyone used this can you guys let me know if this one works or should I just go with a "brand name" http://www.htgsupply.com/Product-HTG-Supply-2-Foot-4-Lamp-PL-55-Tek-Lamp.asp
hey GC, this is my first post here and I'm new to growing I've decided to use t5 and I saw this one for a real good price compared to others and it has 20000 lumens. has anyone used this can you guys let me know if this one works or should I just go with a "brand name" http://www.htgsupply.com/Product-HTG-Supply-2-Foot-4-Lamp-PL-55-Tek-Lamp.asp
They are quite good for vegging plants as they use blue spectrum. The thing with floros is they run at a lower temp than hid bulbs and they dont usually require the purchase of a ballast( tho it seems that one comes with a ballast of some sort, my t5 plugs directly to the mains) but they do not have a great lumen/watt ratio when compared with a hid bulb. For example if that t5 system is running at 200w and output is 20 000 lumen and a 400w metal halide high intensity discharge(hid) bulb outputs 60 000 lumens simple maths says t5 gets 100 lumens per watt and hid mh bulb gets 150 lumens per watt therefore 50 % more power per watt. I too have battled with the idea of using t5's instead of mh bulb purely because they are so simple an risk free( due to low heat and and maintanance) and i am using one to do my propagation which is 96 watt an puts out 6600 lumens, it works perfectly well and i keep the power low when compared to using my 600w mh bulb which requires a big fan and a ballast but the mh bulb does get awesome results and probably cuts vegging time by 1-2 weeks. If you have any quetions about my set up let me know, id be glad to help. Peace, much love Btw 20000 lumen t5 is pretty good, couldnt see the wattage on the link tho, so hard to say if it is worth it Just found it, 55w per bulb 220 total pretty much what i figured when i did the sum above, i worked it ou at 200w so slightly less than 100 lumens per watt. Hope this helps
I use alot of HTG stuff, and I actually own the lamp you are looking at...Its nice and all, but this one, Is also from them, and you cant tell the difference between the two from the plants perspective. HTG Supply - HTG Supply 2 Foot 4 Lamp High Output T5 Same light, and lumens for half the price. I use two for veg, and two more for side fill in my flower room. Good stuff... Good company, but their shipping is high, and its hit or miss with them on shipping times...
i have the 4' 4 bulb t5ho from htg. it has paid for its self many of times. low heat and lots of light. and they make all kinds of different bulbs for them 10,000k, 6400k, 3000k, green and even red and blue actinic bulbs too. so you always have the option of changing spectrums.
I have one,and it is better then my 400w MH anyday.Way less heat.Way supierior lighting period.Flush growth. i've been debating getting 2 more to add to the sides of my flower room. With the HPS bulbs. BUY EEEEET!
I agree. I even had the 2 bulb version from htg, and it vegged better than my 600 watt mh to a point. The MH will smoke a t5 if you're vegging taller plants though.
I love vegging with T5, ~100 lumens/watt, more efficient than mh or cfl (60-70) gonna want ballast and hps for flower tho
