Okay, so a lot of you may be thinking, "why doesn't this guy know what he's growing?" But I started a little grow about two weeks ago with about 40 bag seeds. I figured what the hell not knowing anything about growing herb (which I've now thoroughly researched), and I threw all the seeds into a tupperware container of some damp soil. About a half a week later I see a little green stem poking through the soil. I thought, "damn, I didn't think this would actually work!" I transplanted 5 of the sprouts into small planting containers. A few days passed and more of these little sprouts were coming up in the tupperware container which I kept around, and they looked like all the pictures I had seen on people's posts of young cannabis seedlings. But now I checked back into my tupperware, and a few more of these sprouts are coming up. I thought I was really lucky that these seeds that I wasn't serious about growing magically started to grow. But are these my seeds that are growing? ...Or just random green vegetation from my soil? I'll try to have pix posted of what my plants look like now after about a week or so. But just so you know...the first little leaves it has (cotelydon) are oval shaped, slightly pointy but the stem is about 1.5-2.5 inches long, but is very thin/wire-like. Thanks for the support, I really hope I didn't just think I was growing bud this whole time. Sorry if I sound like a really stupid new grower.
Here's the pictures, hope it helps, I know they kinda suck. Or really suck, but I hope you can tell from these... Thanks.
Well yeah about that...uh...that was probably my problem, I had just gotten the sprouts going, and was a bit delayed on getting my lighting system up. So I just put em' in my windowsill. Would two 60 watt CFLs suffice? About 3 inches away from the plants on 24/0 from when they first come out of the ground? P.S. What exactly does "stretched" mean, and what causes it to happen?
Stretched plants dont have enough light so they strain to reach the light source, causing elongated stems....
it causes the plant to stretch up for light and eventually falls over (like most of yours). A fan blowing on the plants will help also.
Two 60 watt CFLs could work for a few plants while you veg them but once you have to swtich the light cycle over to 12/12 they won't do anymore. You'll need to pick up a 250 or 400 watt HPS light for the flowering cycle. What I would actually recommend doing is ditching the CFLs and buying a lamp that supports MH and HPS bulbs. Use the MH for vegging and switch it over to the HPS for flowering. The results will be worth the extra money.
Can anybody also give me a little schedule for my lighting? like... seedling - 24/0 veg - ? flower - (other) - ?
I know that brainwasher5, but I still would like to know a common/succesful schedule for light cycles. Anybody?
