Is this a problem?

  1. I just watered a 5 gallon pot with a gallon of water using 1tbsp of BB. My PH of straight water was 6.5. PH after adding BB was 6.5. PH of run off was 7.3. Watered about 30 minutes ago. Should I leave it alone? I have another jug of water ready to go. Just needs to be PH'ed. I could do that or just add it as is to try and bring the PH run off down some? Or do you think I am ok and adjust it next time I go to add BB? I will use straight PH balanced water the next time it needs watered.

All the other times I watered with 6.5 my run off was 6.5. But that wasn't in the 5 gallon pot. I think next time I use BB I will adjust my PH'ed water to something like 6.0 to get a run off of around 6.8. Does that sound right?

I hope I didn't screw the plant up. I'm going to keep a very close eye on it.

I'm also having a hard time trying to decide when to move it under the HPS. It's not growing very high. More bushy than anything. It was 2 weeks from seedling yesterday so it is going on it's third week and is only about 2 or 2 1/2 tall. But very healthy looking (well, so far). It' been under 2 54w high output fluros the whole time. Full grow of this is supposed to be 9 to 11 weeks. I'm thinking I need to get it under the HPS to start giving it some stretch and height. Also to get it ready for the flower cycle as I only want it to be around 3, no more than 4 feet tall.

Any suggestions on the PH and the HPS would be appreciated.

  2. I'd say leave the soil alone. It will eventually creep back down to 7 or so. That pH is a tad bit high, but not out of the ballpark so you will be fine.

As far as the height just let her go. You can make her stretch some under the CFL, just pull them about 3-4 inches away. She will stretch up to reach for it, and then once she is there, she will resume bushing. But don't fear, a bushy plant is a good thing. Especially if you want to keep her under 4 feet tall. She will stretch double in size once she is done flowering so you have to account for that. Maintaining a bush will allow you to maximize your horizontal space, and keep your vertical space low.

What are you growing though? You probably aren't going to pull a harvest in 9 weeks with a regular 12/12 strain if you let her veg to a decent size.

Thanks for the reply dude. Greatly appreciated. And good to hear.

I'm growing White Widow. I love the way it's more bushy than stretch. I was just worried about it being too short but I guess it's doing fine the way it is. I was going to veg to about a height of about 1ft, 1 1/2ft, or 2 ft. Not sure which one yet. Then go into flowering.

  4. Yea, that sounds good. Anywhere around 2 ft of veg should keep you around 4 feet of flowering with a WW. I've not grown a WW before, but every Indica I have grown stays right around 4 feet tall, when I start flowering at that height.

Start up a grow journal and let me know how it goes!
