im a super senior, its when you repeat sr. year. im 18. i want to get like 50 lbs of clay and mold it into bongs and pipes as i need to. i'll sell my pipes for 5 bucks and my bongs for 10-20 depending on size. but they can draw or tell me somthing to engrave in it for like a couple bucks. does this sound like a good idea, and any tip's. dont flag this or somthing im just asking a valid question. sorry for the paraniodness ive been kicked off other forums for questions like this
no i dont have a kiln but i thought i could just set my oven to the max wich is 500 degrees Fahrenheit. if that didnt work i would put it in a fire
I would love to see a ceramic bong made by a person with no experience on a wheel, lol. Do it. For god's sake though, don't sell it to anyone, just post pictures.
I don't understand why you had to tell us you were a super senior? Some epic-lulz worthy threads we've been having today Please don't do that you don't know what affects people might get from the heated clay.
Sounds good but do you watch 1000 ways to die? No? Im just going to assume no and tell you anyway. There was one episode about exactly this, and the stoners used a homebuilt kiln. The flame went out and the geniuses had the brilliant idea of using a lighter. It blew up and they died with bong shards embedded in their face. Please dont be a re-visit on their show
Actually the propane tank hooked up to a trash can sounds like a raku kiln. Raku is a highly satisfying ceramic to make and it sells for a lot of money. They must have not known what they were doing with the propane tank exploding like that. OP if you cook it in your oven it won't become vitreous or glass-like and will melt in water. If you put it in a fire you would have to know what you are doing. I tried it and all of my pieces blew up. Even if they hardened they would break easily. You need a kiln to do it right, sorry. Check your community college for a ceramics program, but my ceramics prof always brok all the pipes and all. He said that all smoking equipment would be broken at the beginning of the semester, but there were always people who tried to slip one in. They tried to make them stealthy like it would look like an incense burner or something, but if you look at it you can tell it is a pipe. Fun times.
^I'm glad my ceramics instructor isn't a douche. He pretty much lets us make whatever we want, so long as we don't discuss what it's used for in class.
if you have a kiln, or access to one it could be a good idea. If your good with clay you could probably make 2 or 3 good pipes in a day.
