Is This A Good First Bong?

Discussion in 'Bongs, Dab Rigs & Bubblers' started by RippinInTheUS, Jul 9, 2014.

  1. I have a pretty low budget. Probably $60 max. But I found this cool bong on BrothersWithGlass for $30. Its only 5.5 Inches tall. Which seems good for me because I'm 19 and still live with my parents. So it'd be easy to hide, and transport. I need it to fit in my drawstringbag for when I go out to the woods or to my girlfriends house to smoke. Heres the link.

Is there any other bongs you guys might want to recommend or is this good? I don't really want to order from Grasscity because I hear it takes a few weeks to get hear.. Is BWG any faster?

I'm not going to link to it because GC frowns on linking to competitors, but that same site has an HVY straight tube for $46.75. It's 10 inches tall, glass on glass, and has a diffused downstem.

It would be a much better deal than the one you picked out. Less than 6 inches and not even glass on glass isn't going to deliver very good hits, you might as well go with a bubbler at that rate.

A lot of people recommend the travel beaker from SSFG too, but that's $60 + $10 shipping.

  3. SSFG? Sorry I'm kinda new lol

  4. ^ Yeah I got that same HVY 10 inch straight tube about a year ago as my first bong. Works great and high quality. Plus you get a free item from BWG for orders over 35.

like janedough said, get something that's glass on glass. basically, this means the bong has a glass downstem instead of a rubber grommet (like the one your picture has). the piece you picked looks like somewhat thin glass, too, meaning it can break fairly easily. look for something more like what janedough is describing. ideally 5mm thick glass, glass on glass, and somewhere 5-10 inches tall.

if you get a good first bong there isn't much need to get a second. I dropped $150 on my first piece. it's a beautiful stemless 7mm thick glass piece. still have it years later.

I don't have that same model, but I can attest to the quality of my own HVY Glass water pipe. I understand that HVY uses American or German glass (none of that cheap Chinese glass) and it's thick and sturdy. I would definitely consider that one over your original selection. I absolutely love my bong by HVY.
EDIT: OP, I read your post again, I'd save up a little extra money and raise that budget of yours. There's a huge difference between what you'll find for $60 and what you'll find for $100.

  9. if youre gonna get a 5 inch bong get a roor. It may be even smaller and hits like a champ with a nice bowl

  10. you're not getting a real roor for 60 bucks bro.

  11. obviously
