Is there really a such thing as pure indica or pure sativa?

Discussion in 'Beginner Cannabis Consumption & Tips' started by Johnny Cash, Mar 24, 2011.

  1. Is the plant even capable of producing pure sativa or pure indica?
Have you ever seen any weed labeled as such?

  2. The plant does not produce sativa or indica. It IS indica or sativa. Yes, neither species is extinct.

  3. I don't think it's possible to have a plant with no CBD.

Correct me if i'm wrong but i'm not sure.

  4. Cannabis sativa and indica both produce CBD. They are species of plants classified by many things not simply how they make you feel.

  5. Not completley.

  6. Yes there is. Otherwise their classifications would be useless.

  7. the most pure strain ive smoked is 80/20 indica.. but i dont normally ask my budtender what the % is.. i usually can tell just from smoking it and be within 10% or so.

ive heard original strains like Bullrider are almost straight sativa.. ive yet to try it though.. i love my OGs too much :D

  8. I'm pretty sure Durban Poison is 100% sativa while Hawaii Skunk is 100% indica.. that doesn't mean one has 100% THC and other 100% CBD though. I don't really know how to explain it.

  9. bullrider is an afghani if im not mistaken.

Pure sativas would come from tropical places, and be landrace strains...
    lots of hazes are sativas

pure indicas would be landrace strains from pakistan/afghanistan/etc.

  10. There seems to be some confusion as to what contitutes sativa and what constitutes indica.
What exactly makes a strain sativa or indica? Simply its heritage?
I've never heard of a such thing as a ratio like 80/20... how would this be measured?

  11. i coudnt tell you the science of it, not sure how they determine it completely.. but you can generally get a close estimate after smoking it.

you can also generalize by looks, sativas are more stringy, unorganized looking nugs, not as dense.
indicas have more shape to them, that good lookin cone shape.

and i was just going off what my budtender told me about the bullrider being sativa.. i scoped it out, stuck my nose in the jar, grabbed a decent size nug n inspected it.. very very stringy, no shape to it at all.. and the BT was tellin me how it's one of the original sativa strains that's been around for a while.
seems very believable if you could see what it looked like.
I've had some UK Cheese from the same clinic and it was the strongest head high ive had.. probably the closest ive had to pure sativa. was daank too, super crystally :)

When I had grand daddy purps(indica) and pink Maui(sativa) I would start the morning with a couple bong hits of the purp and then finish off with a couple bong hits of pink Maui and I could feel the difference in highs and when theyre mixed it equals the ultimate stares! o_o

YouTube h2sforsaken and watch GDP n pink Maui combo to peep the buddha!

  13. Think of it like dogs. There are the old strains, (labrador, german shepard etc) and then they are the new strains (labradoodle). Imagine if everybody insisted on having labradoodles. The breeders crossbred the pure strains into cross-breeds. There are very little pure indicas and sativas left, most are mixed.

  14. That's what the guy behind the counter of my local coffeeshop told me too. He said all of their strains are mixed. He said it's that way in every coffeeshop.
But do pure indicas and sativas even exist? That's what I'm wondering. And what makes a strain pure sativa or pure indica? Is it the ratio of THC to CBD?

Is this even a scientific thing or is it just a wild guess?

  15. I highly doubt there is any pure sativa or indica left. It there is it's probably like 1-2% of all bud on the planet.

  16. I have a magazine article about this. I shall return with it give me 20 mins GC

  17. Looking forward to it.
