Is there anythign wrong with using a coffee tin would it create too much heat or would it be ok? another thing if your in no rush to have the plant growing good can it just grow in natural light by a window or in a sunroom?
High, grobros, The coffee tins are okay for the beginning into the vegetative stage. Set them to drain on wire racks over a bucket or plate. You can pierce the bottom's edge with a can puncher, 6-8 times around the circumfrence, and one nail hole in the middle, made from inside. This will ensure complete drainage. Never let them sit in water. This is bad for the plant and the can and makes the can bad for the plant. When the tin begins to bind the roots, you need to transplant into a container at least 3 gallons, which will sustain a 3' plant. There you will veg until you reach your size/age goal, then switch to 12s. eg
